Eastern Shore Chamber official accused of spying on women with restroom camera

DAPHNE, Ala. -- Daphne police have arrested Jay Hasting, tourism director at the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, on charges that he secretly used a digital camera to record a pair of women in a restroom Sunday morning at the chamber's Scenic Overlook Welcome Center.

Hasting is a well-known member of the Daphne community.

"It was kind of a shocker for everybody," said Lt. Jud Beedy, Daphne police spokesman.

Hasting was suspended from his chamber duties on Monday, according to a statement sent to the media by Chamber President Darrelyn Bender.

Efforts to contact Hasting and his attorney were unsuccessful.

Huntsville Police Looking For Suspect In Regions Bank Robbery

Regions Bank on Drake Avenue robbed just before 12 p.m.

HUNTSVILLE, AL

Huntsville Police are looking for the person who robbed Regions Bank on Drake Avenue shortly before 12 p.m. Friday.

Police say the suspect approached a teller and held up a note that said "this is a robbery." He wore an Alabama baseball cap.

Witnesses say the man had a dark to medium complexion. He wore an white Alabama baseball cap, with a red "A", and white shirt. He drove away in a white Z-71 truck, getting away with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police say the man did not show a weapon.

He is between 5'6" and 5'10", and weighs approximately 160 to 170 pounds.
