Derek Lee to the Braves for 3 "non-elite" minor league pitchers.....the cubs have lost their minds. Thoughts?

Not really. They knew they couldn't afford him after the season. Better to get something for him rather than nothing if they wouldn't have traded him

The Cubs just made a very smart deal. They get relief of 1.7 mil (half of Lee's salary for the remainder of the year) and get three pitching prospects to go along. Lee was gonna be a free agent at the end of this year anyway and having been with the Cubs for forever, the least Chicago could do is trade him to a division-leading team. Smart move by both sides in my opinion. The Cubbies had nothing to gain anymore from Derrek Lee.

just like the stock market.  when you're losing, sell sell sell.  when you're winning, buy buy buy.

this is an excellent trade.  the only risk for the braves is derrek's back.  bulging disk.  Just hope that doesn't come back to bite.  Good news is Glause can stillg ive an off day

Glaus is beingh sent down to rehab his bad knees.  I think Freeman will come up and be the backup for lee in september.

Could happen, we might see him when they expand the roster in September, but I think the chances of us seeing Freeman this year are pretty slim.

They lost their minds in the front office years ago.  However, this is not that bad a move overall.  He wouldn't have been back next year anyway, and they did get some pitchers in the deal, no matter how "elite" or not.
