Fox News' Top Headline Story Is About how a Liberal Celebrity Didn't Stand For The Anthem At an NFL Game....I'm serious.

As of the moment I'm writing this post, the above story is one of the top stories on Foxnews.com. An article about how a liberal celebrity, John Mellenchamp, was pictured sitting down in his seat during the playing of the national anthem during the Colts NFL game this sunday....

And Fox News didn't even break this critical story...it's just stealing a story from a Tweet from a  writer for Outkick.com who calls John a "Fraud" for not standing for the anthem.

The comments below the article from the Fox crowd are pretty funny. Top comments are from all the boomers who say they are now throwing out all their Mellenchamp albums and removing all is songs from their online playlist because of this picture, and comments about how he should be forced to leave the country if he doesn't respect it, but wait...someone makes the point that because a Democrat is the President then it's okay to be ashamed of America and our country!...come people seem to agree with that stance. You can dislike America as long as Democrats/liberals are in charge, but as soon as Republicans take over again, you better have American eagle dung and BBQ sauce flowing through your veins.

So what's your opinion on the matter? Should John Mellenchamp be put in front of the firing squad? Is anyone who doesn't stand for the anthem at sporting events a traitor to the country? Are Conservative news sites just tabloid journalism for stupid people? Discuss below!

The question is, would you stand or sit during our National Anthem ?

I always have, but I value the freedom the flag is intended to represent more than the symbol.

Absolutely !  If you stand for our anthem, then you are standing in respect for the source of that freedom, not because others condemn you to doing so.

I'll add one more comment.  Respect for the anthem and our flag are meant to be our symbols of unity, even when opinions are polar opposite among the people.  I think that the purpose of the article is to question why a man, who makes money from his song about America, doesn't stand to show his support.  For all we know he could have been in deep thought, composing his next song about his love for America and didn't realize that someone else's song was playing.

The idea that someone would enter our Capitol and urinate on it, as ichy says happened, infuriates me.  That person should be hauled off to jail, made to stand in the corner of the cell until he urinates all over himself.  He wants to act like a brat, then he should be treated as such.

My two cents.

Then you value the symbol of freedom more than freedom.

Perhaps you overlooked what I said.  "For all we know he could have been in deep thought, composing his next song about his love for America and didn't realize that someone else's song was playing. "

So do want him hauled off to jail for breaking into the Capitol and urinating on the flag or is just urinating on the flag enough?

No he should not be put in front the firing squad. Wouldn’t say Fox, etc., for stupid people. They sure seem to get you and yours attention frequently. Maybe they are simply smart.

Whatever crimes he committed, then he should face prosecution.  Trespassing ?  Indecent exposure ?  Urinating in public ?  I don't know.  I'm just saying that in the meantime, while his crimes are decided, I want him to be made to piss all over himself in jail to, hopefully, make him understand how grossly he disrespected the symbols of our nation.  The law wouldn't allow this to happen though.  But does that individual claim a First Amendment exemption such as flag burners do ?  It's a wacky world.

From what little I've read, there were some individuals who were allowed into the Capitol by guards.  I saw in a video one such guard calmly escort several protestors into the House Chamber.  The protestors shouldn't have been there, but if the guard opens the door to them, then it gave the appearance that they had permission, illogical, but I'm sure that has/is/will be argued.  The way attorneys argue law these days I'm sure that we'll see some doozy statements.

Regardless, none of this was peaceful protesting as DJT had advocated.
