Will we retry the 2 QB system next year?

We have never had a 2 QB system under Gus. We've had a QB and a wildcat. JJ won't be a wildcat and with Marshall's running ability there is little need for a wildcat type guy to take a snap. CAP taking a half-dozen snaps a year doesn't constitute a 2 QB system.

NM will be the starter unless he gets hurt. JJ will probably play more snaps because we should be able to blow more teams out next year (our D should be much better) and will have more mop up time.

The only way to have a true 2 QB system where it doesn't become painfully obvious what we are going to do is if NM and JJ are on the field at the same time, which is very unlikely. If JJ is on the field it means we are throwing, if NM is on the field theres an 80% chance we are running. We will show our cards too much.

Although NM could be a sweep guy but then you're taking somebody off of the field like a WR who is actually a WR that is most likely a bigger threat to catch the ball than NM.

I hope not! Pick a QB and go with him. Nick has clearly shown he can make some big plays and can lead the offense. Nick will get better as a passer. The kid came on campus in June.....JUNE! JJ is going to be great no doubt in my mind but unless Nick is hurt or just not effective let JJ play in the "cupcake" games to get him some more experience. How can you not let the QB that led us to NC 100% keep his job?

Nick deserves the start but because of how brutal the SEC schedules are, we need a backup QB that can step right in. This is Coach Malzahn covering all the angles for another run for the title. Plus, a little competition is great. Last years team was great but "14's will have a legitimate chance to dominate. It will be better suited to manage itself through the new play-off system, depth-wise.
