Monty got held a lot last year as well that never got called. He is just going to have to work through them like he is doing now and forget about getting a call here or there.

He had a great game, reminded me of Fairly the way he dominated the line.

He got back there quick enough to look like Fairley.

Just seeing only a player's name in thread titles always makes me worry before I click.

This! So many times, this! Please be more descriptive with our thread titles. For example: "Monty Adams's Great Game vs Louisville"

People that has been around this forum realizes that and they would clarify if they need to. If a new poster posts only a name, you can expect anything bad or good to come through.

No doubt. To borrow from Cubelic, he played angry, and we've been missing that.

We keep looking for parallels between this team to the two really good ones of the last 5 years. Welp, having another Fairley would be a big step in the right direction.

Watching that replay reminded me of how afraid I was during the live action that Garrett was going to get a celebration penalty. When he slowed down 15 yards out I expected the worst. Glad he walked in and behaved once he got there.

Me too. Or, mistakenly dropping the ball at the 1 yard line.

Had a helluva game vs. Louisville. Excited about what he can do this season ... keep working Montravius!

So Montravious Adams got held when he caused the fumble and still got it.

@AU_Beards

Did they call holding on this play? Um no and as far as I can tell that is in the open, effects the play, and is blatant. So for all the blah blah blah as most have said they didn't get called for any of it we did. I noticed it all game long his motor was on full bore!

I wondered at the time how he could be so sure he wasn't being chased, even with an escort. I don't remember him turning to look. All I know is that if I ever had such an opportunity, I certainly wouldn't shut it down before the goal line.

As for Adams, I felt he didn't get enough praise immediately after the game. Like someone said, he also reminded me of Farley.

The difference is our DL keeps getting after it when they are held. I notice other DLinemen, who will fall down if they think they are held. And some DLinemen, when they realize they can't make a play, they will flop and make it look like a hold. I also notice some WR who, when they know they can't make a catch, they will entangle an arm with the defenders arm to make it look like interference. Just tricks of the trade that they get away with more than not.

He was looking up at the video board as he ran towards it. I see players doing this often and wonder how in the moment they can think to look at the videoboard but they do.

One play in particular that has always stuck out to me was Sammie Coates taking the screen pass in the 2013 A&M game to the house. He was only a few steps ahead of a guy and instantly looks up to the video board to see what he's got.

I figured Tray Mathews was telling him he's got it. I'm pretty sure Tray looked back.

Geez. I hope the video never goes out. They might just stop.

I really thought Adams was the player of the game if I had a vote. I guess he took Will's advice seriously that he was taking money out of his pocket every play he loafed.

Tray was trying to get him in trouble by telling him to start high stepping. Garrett said so in a post game interview. I hope the coaches had a conversation with Tray about that.

Or alternatively, he's putting money in his pocket every play. I wonder what his potential income/play was. ;D

Sounds like a question for Stat's next podcast.

I missed the Garrett interview but it would also make sense that Mathews told him he was in the clear before he told him to start high stepping....nevertheless Garrett got the job done with no stupid penalty.
