Opening Day

Recommended Posts

Looks like Keegan is starting and great to have him back and healthy. looking like the weather will be great for Friday anyway. Opening day usually means high 40's and rainy. Saturday weather could be problematic. Plainsman park and baseball another one of the great things going in Auburn. 2:00 pitch means television  I suppose.

If by tv you include on SEC+ through the WatchESPN APP then yes the game is available.

Is that the reason for the 2:00 start? Normally 3:00 or 4:00 first pitch to accommodate the fans.

You probably nailed it...accommodating the fans is typically the last part of the equation about starting times in any major sport now.  But as a retired person...2 PM will work out though it might delay my nap..:)

David Housel once said  when ESPN calls to say we want kickoff at 4:30 that his only response is AM or PM.

Unlikely no IMO. They had the February-early March games on SEC+ the past few years at 3 PM on weekdays. I think they moved it up to 2 so the games likely end before the sun goes down and weather gets cold. Not many fans come to weekday nonconference games anyway.

ESPN only controls times for games on ESPN, the deuce, the U, ESPN News, & the main SEC Network. ESPN is not and does not control the times for games on SEC+. The home SEC schools do. In this case its strictly an AU announce crew with strictly AU staff.

Game times often set to avoid overlap with other sports on campus....tomorrow should be a great day on campus for baseball/softball fans....

Exactly. None of our non conference games are on any ESPN or SEC TV station. They are all available online. ESPN is the host site or app for that but the schools determine game times when the games are only online & not TV.
