Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Institutional racism is clearly Trump's goal

Then came Trump. He resurrected Arpaio’s rhetoric and made a hit on the national stage. He used Arpaio as a warm-up act during campaign rallies and modeled his own speeches on Arpaio’s rambling populist routine.

Many hoped the country would tire of this toxic folly – just as Arizona had.

After Trump was elected, many hoped he would abandon his habit of appealing to the worst instincts of disaffected white Americans who have been left behind by economic changes that had little to do with undocumented immigration.

Many hoped Trump would decide to become the president of all the people.

But Trump spent last week demonstrating that he wants to be president of the few.

By pardoning Arpaio, Trump made it clear that institutional racism is not just OK with him. It is a goal.

That should trouble every American who believes that our duty as a nation is to continue working on behalf of equal justice.

This is happening now.

Quote

Fresh off his controversial pardon, former sheriff Joe Arpaio is palling around with anti-Semites and Holocaust deniers.

A September 15 article published in American Free Press cites an expansive interview Arpaio recently gave to the news outfit “in an effort to bypass the fake news.”

According to the Anti-Defamation League–an organization dedicated to rooting out anti-Semitism which also works “to secure justice and equality”–American Free Press is “an anti-Semitic conspiracy-oriented newspaper.”

And that description puts it a bit lightly.

In the past, American Free Press has published numerous Holocaust-denial pieces–occasionally deleting them in the face of unflattering media attention–and their bookstore sells titles like, The Holocaust Never Happened & The CIA Killed JFK, a pseudo-scholarly tract which claims to “destroy the hoax of the 6 million Jewish victims of Nazi Germany.”

Present–and scrubbed–headlines on the website read: “AUDIO INTERVIEW: Jewish Fingerprints All Over 9-11”; “AUDIO INTERVIEW: Holocaust Hoax Exposed”; “Meet the Man Who Invented the ‘Holocaust’“; “Why Can We Question Anything but the ‘Holocaust’?”; “Third Consecutive Zionist Jew to Head U.S.’s Economic Warfare Division”.

Give 'em hell Sheriff Joe. Let them enforce federal immigration law before they bother with you. Don't let hypocrites rule.

That's as dumb as a bag of rocks.

Enforcement of federal laws, or the lack thereof, has nothing to do with Arpaio at this point.  He was running camps that were tantamount to modern day concentration camps, camps that can be linked to several innate deaths.

He also promoted engagement in harassment, by his officers,  of US citizens that happened to be of Hispanic decent.  Frequently violating the constitutional rights to due process of the people in the targeted communities.

There is a litany of other crimes and misdeeds, but this is enough to proclaim Arpaio a criminal.

One that revels, as did Arpaio, in the inhumane treatment of those in his care, joyously celebrating his abuses of authority, is an evil, deviant person.  He deserves the same treatment he extended to those in his camps.

He is not a great American.

First quick search, because I don't have bookmarks on this dirtbag.

The article is hyperbolic, but reasonably well sourced.

You could just check out Wiki if you like.

The account of Charles Agster is particularly infuriating.

"In August 2001, Charles Agster, a 33-year-old mentally handicapped man, died in the county jail, three days after being forced by sheriff's officers into a restraint chair used for controlling combative arrestees. Agster's parents had been taking him to a psychiatric hospital because he was exhibiting paranoia, then called police when he refused to leave a convenience store where they had stopped en route. Officers took Agster to the Madison Street jail, placed a spit hood over his face and strapped him to the chair, where he had an apparent seizure and lost consciousness. He was declared brain dead three days later. A medical examiner later concluded that Agster died of complications of methamphetamineintoxication. In a subsequent lawsuit, an attorney for the sheriff's office described the amount of methamphetamine in Agster's system as 17 times the known lethal dose. The lawsuit resulted in a $9 million jury verdict against the county, the sheriff's office, and Correctional Health Services.[75]

I could keep doing the research for you, but it isn't like you are changing your mind anyway.  If I'm wrong on that, well, right on.

Hell, 5 minutes of Google is ample time to cure him of his ignorance. It's all pretty well documented.

I bet the exact same people who think the second amendment is crucial to protecting ourselves from a tyranical government support the pardon of Arpaio.

They should be arrested by a county sheriff and held without charges until they see the light.
