The question is who can legitimately compete against Saban and Georgia.... Gus is about the only one who can have some success against Saban, do replace him for someone we “think” could. It’s a tough one.

See, I ain’t buyin this. Gus would be 1-5 against Saban if not for the kick six which was a miraculous special teams play. And 2017 was more about the defense and the sheer guts of Kerryon Johnson than any grand game plan Gus created. Besides, I think Saban is nearing the end. And really, its not even about bama at this point. Gus’s 2-4 against them is perfectly acceptable given the circumstances. Its the other losses every year where we could’ve/should’ve won if not for inept offense...his side of the ball. Our defense is balling out and getting no payoff for it at all.

Gus will figure out the offense in the bowl game don’t sweat it. Seriously though why does it seem Gus can’t figure out the offense till mid season most years?!? Does he realize that’s what he is supposed to have figured out before the season? Very annoying

Agree.. it’s not even about Saban and bama.. usually by the time the bama game rolls around CGM has crapped the bed and is fighting for his job and pulls a rabbit out of the hat.. i for one am tired of it. It is not that we lose.. it is how we lose and with the talent we have on both sides of the ball.. it really is tiring that we can’t recruit a quality OL.. I just want to see a change..

Also agree......but to be fair Tuberville never beat Auburn while HC at Ole Miss.

That is a fair point. And it is only one one loss in a very early coaching career...

I'm not saying Cristobal couldn't be a good get, just saying I don't think the evidence bears out yet.

I'd try to steal Chris Klieman from K State. Not because of yesterday, but he's been shown he can build and sustain success at the FBS level and has K State batting above their average this year. And no doubt Auburn is in a much more advantageous position than the last few years of Bill Snyder's K State.

Do you do if like a Clemson and LSU?    Have a disciplined yet high energy , recruiting guru as the HC and turn over the D and O to specialists?

THIS is what we need to do. Honestly speaking, Gus should be like the rare managerial head coach. Have your team, handle the big picture, hire specialists & manage the specialists. Don't micromanage or control things. Maybe you can have your position group you like to work with. Saban does it, Les (sorta) did it, Coach O does it.

Its just too much for a head coach to try and be the O/D coordinator and be a head coach without getting to the point where they lopside the team because they're to heavily involved in one side and try to play perfectionist while balancing other duties. And then when the actual coordinator wants to make changes, it seems like an affront to the authority of the HC so they don't make the necessary changes.

We see how well the D does since Steele and his staff are allowed to run it as they please.... I'm just throwing out ideas.

At this point i’d take a cardboard cutout of Petrino on the sidelines.

I would take a madden playbook and let the players call the play

That may be the only way to stay up with them in recruiting and have the proper player development.

Maybe TWill for HC.    One of the 1st was fat Phil at UT, he was a helluva recruiter, money making machine, etc... and was the o-line Coach.  Lots of examples

This makes too much sense...OCs need to be nomadic b/c their systems get figured out every 2 years or so by the bright defensive minds in our league.

Venebles, Fleck, Heupel, Steele, Aranda, Leach, Patterson. In that order. Dream hire would be Franklin, but it ain’t happening. He’s at a better job.

I feel like Bill Clark is a Malzahn type risk and we would ultimately end up in the same situation.

Hugh Freeze beat him twice. Hire Freeze for 7 mil a year. About the same production.

Ya but Freeze was blatantly cheating so I would have to say no. Had he done it fair he’d already have a bigger job and wouldn’t be available.

To be fair, if you’re gonna win at ole miss...you have to cheat...

Who is that? Name one person who has suggested that we just randomly choose Gus's successor.

Doubt these slappys have the sack to replace him this year even if he were to lose out with the exception of Samford. Even at 7-6 they don't make a move this year. I don't want to hear that, but I've accepted it.

Hopefully the AD is laying the groundwork to have the next coach here in 2021.  May work out better because I don't think Klieman would be ready to move after only 1 year at KSU, but after year 2 I could see him being ready to move up to big boy football. That would be my choice. But, no matter who it is, Greene needs to have the pieces in place to pull the trigger after next season on whatever day Gus' buyout drops again. Deal should be done well before that, but only become official when it most benefits Auburn. And I don't want to hear a single damn leak about what is going on.

Won’t happen, and for the record I don’t want it to, but a loss to ole sis would do it. Regardless of how he finishes that would do it in my opinion.

True or False...if Bill Clark upsets Tennessee this weekend UT will make a run at him.

Someone will get him and it could haunt us in the future. He's impressive.
