aubiefifty 16,833
By Mike Rodak | mrodak@al.com Days after delaying the start of its football schedule to Sept. 26, the SEC has also pushed back the start of fall practice. The league’s new date for teams to begin practice is Aug. 17, it announced Tuesday. Practice had been scheduled to begin Friday, which was the traditional start date of fall camp 29 days before what had been most schools’ scheduled season openers Sept. 5. As part of the SEC’s revised rules for this year, teams can hold a maximum of 25 practices over a 40-day period leading up to the start of the 10-game conference-only schedule Sept. 26. There must be two days off each week and a maximum of 20 hours of countable activities per week. Football players have been back on campuses since last month participating in weight training, meetings and walk-through practices.
