Apparently it’s Freeze

Not buying it. This feels like last second noise. Especially after the reports on both Auburn and Ole Miss pay sites that Kiffin signed yesterday and is planning to announce tomorrow.  My money is still on Kiffin. He has nothing to gain at Ole Miss, and has peaked that program.

If it is Freeze, Cohen is a bust. We have every advantage over Ole Miss. no excuse to not sign him.

Is it not plausible he just wants to stay there or he made some outrageous salary demand that did not fit or make fiscal sense for Auburn?

Kiffin is not coming now. Book it.

I’m not booking anything until the position is filled. Words are meaningless. Coaches always say they are staying even if they aren’t. I’ll say this though. If we missed out on Lane, better have better back up plan than Freeze. A large percentage of the fan base is opposed to him on moral grounds. He’d have similar issues to Harsin winning over the fans.

Fire Gus just to hire a different variation of him but with a shady cheating past. Gus 2.0 Let’s Freaking Go!

Get you some high school offense!

Serious "don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining vibes" with this one.

Are you seriously this damned dense?

Yes I am stupid enough to know that all we know is what we know. I am also not a judgmental piece of crap that thinks I am somehow above reproach.

You admitted in your original garbage post that you didn’t know what happened but were livid about some of the possibilities, and somehow I am the dense one for saying maybe it was the least offensive version instead of your most offensive version.

Good luck with the rest of your day, I was trying to have a civil conversation that you seem to be incapable of.

I do think he came back with some further ask on the deal and Auburn told him the deal on the table was the final offer and we had a Plan B if that wasn't good enough.  At some point, everyone has a limit.  And Auburn was already being really generous.

Now that said there were other factors involved like possibly his kids being reluctant to leave Oxford and their friends and probably a s***-ton of emotional pressure from current players.  But Auburn (rightly) felt the offer that was extended (and basically agreed to in principle) was very strong and more than reasonable and felt no need to sweeten it further.

IMO, Kiffin losing these last three games in a row ended his chances of being Auburn's head coach.  That was NOT a good look for Kiffin, nor would it have been a good look for Auburn to hire a guy that just lost three games in a row, two of which should have been easy wins, and paying him ridiculous stupid money to boot.  I think we just dodged a bullet, but Im probably in the minority.

He has to win, if Harsin was winning football games, recruiting, etc. Auburn fans would have been cheering him right on and he would have won them over.

You are trying to redefine "escort service" lol.

I mean I get the white knighting for what's likely our next coach,  but don't need to twist yourself into pretzels to try and justify what he did.

He was buying sex, whether that was for himself or for the kids in his charge, we can't say for sure, but he was buying sex.

When we “stole” Tubs I don’t think his record was that good.

I can understand wanting to avoid an A&M situation.

So we hire a guy who's lost two in a row including to UConn and a 3 win Va Tech team instead. Yep, big step up.

True.  Auburn has a painful history of hiring mediocrity, then complaining and wondering why our program remains mired in mediocrity.

Lmao so we didn’t get the guy we were guaranteed to get, 😂. Freaking shocking! This time we are going to get big name splash hire! The same process every time.  Please come home Rhett before it gets too bad 🤦‍♂️

Hugh Freeze is a big step up from Harsin.

If Hugh Freeze can make RA into Malik Willis 2.0

oh boy

Good question

I know that Freeze can run an offense that takes advantage of his skill set, unlike the last regime

Neither Kiffin nor Freeze are good choices for Auburn.  Freeze may actually be the better coach, but he's still just Gus .. without the morals.

One reason I could see Auburn bringing Freeze in, though, is that he would be easy for the boosters to control.  He'll have no grounds to demand autonomy.

They are all mediocre except for Urban Meyer.

Yes. He was on his third and fourth string QB and made them competent. So I am intrigued to see what he could do with the likes of RA. Just so ready to have an official HC lol.

All I am saying is I don’t know.
My opinion which is useless is that this was a marriage failure and if that is the case that is a family matter that I hope he has overcome.
Either way that is my opinion on small anecdotal evidence and is also something that many people are able to recover from in a personal and moral capacity.

I don’t think it makes him a bad person or a bad coach. I also believe that many people can become better from their mistakes.

If that view is worthy of ridicule then I guess I’ll take it.
