I’m an old guy - over 60, and I’ve decided that you younger folks must think you’re idiots and capable of nothing new or innovative besides technology.  Tom Cruise is the biggest action actor (Harrison Ford in the recent Indiana Jones is .. 80), the never ending franchise movies are superhero’s invented in the 30s-60s or other “reimagined” old movies, music hasn’t evolved much (besides rap) in my lifetime, and of course the 2 political “thought” leaders have been around since I graduated from AU.  15 years before the internet. Biden was loosing running for president back then and trump was already a punch line in jokes in NY -  (I actually met the guy in the late 80s - dear lord people can confuse clown show bravado with intellect). And finally the culture war debates that everyone thinks are new have been around since dirt, I remember having them in high school. It’s only social media that has further enabled it.

Why?  Has this country become so culturally and politically stale that it still looks to its fathers and grandfathers for ideas and leadership. Again, I can sincerely tell you Biden and trump were anything but heavy weights. Biden literally couldn’t win anything outside of Pennsylvania and trump was losing his dads money investing in 2nd tier casinos that went bankrupt. Now they’re suddenly the best we’ve got??

The best answer I can get to why people will vote for either of them is they’re afraid the other one will win. Well thats big thinking. This country has to have younger leaders from a more current era - and the fearlessness and courage to make it happen. I’m done with my rant. Ps can someone please get a fresh movie idea, there has to be some creativity left - Disney is now remaking Snow White? It’s an example of looking backwards. This country is based on taking risks and pioneering new idea and trends. This isn’t us.

People have bashed the baby boomers for a lot of this type of thinking.  I believe that is unfounded as where are the leaders from the younger generations?  Why hasn’t anyone stepped up?  I believe it’s apathy.

If someone of the younger generation shows the leadership required to bring this country together they will be rewarded.  Now is the time.

Things aren't as easy it they once were, especially in the creative realm.

I agree.  However, more often than not, our innovations and risk taking has been most productive under great pressure.  It may be as simple as human nature, but without a common cause to bind us together, we seem to stumble around.

As for entertainment, I find that there is more junk than ever before and more quality than ever before.  Finding what I want can be a challenge, but there is a lot out there.

Perhaps the only area in which the "younger folks" have any real control is,,, technology?  Perhaps the concentration of wealth and power has stifled creativity and innovation in many markets?
