A fan screaming "Roll Tide" outside a fraternity house led to a violent altercation early Saturday that left seven Auburn students injured, five with stab wounds.

At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, a person described by the Auburn Police Division as an unknown white male yelled "Roll Tide" outside of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house at 841 West Magnolia Street in Auburn. One person at the house confronted the person who yelled, and a fight broke out between the two males.

According to police, several others joined in the altercation, when the unknown white male suspect pulled a knife, stabbing one of the people involved in the fight. He then ran trying to escape the scene on Hemlock Avenue, with several people chasing him.

About a block away a second fight broke out and four more people were stabbed before the suspect again fled.

Police units, Emergency Medical Service technicians and the fire department filled the downtown area with flashing lights, treating the victims, searching the area for a suspect and trying to sort out what happened.

Police have been unable to identify a suspect in the incident, but are still working the investigation.

Listed as victims were David Atlee, 19, James Sanders, 21, Travis Sewell, 18, Ryan Penso, 22, Kyle Novicki, 18, Dustin Sheffield, 20, and Brian Gambina, 23. All seven were listed as Auburn University students. Information released by police said that all seven were taken to East Alabama Medical Center, with two being admitted.

Due to medical privacy guidelines, the extent of the injuries or the condition of any patients still at the hospital were not made available.

The fight wasn’t the only incident in the area Saturday.

In a separate incident, Auburn Police Division investigators were called to an area near the intersection of West Glenn and Hemlock Avenue to investigate an armed robbery at 2:22 a.m. Saturday.

Three female victims reported that while sitting in their car waiting for someone early Saturday morning, two men approached their vehicle. Police say the two men were wearing ski masks and were armed with handguns and robbed the three women.

The suspects took an undisclosed amount of property and cash and ran away on foot.

Police are seeking two black male suspects. One is described as being 16-25 years old, between 5-6 and 5-9 tall and weighing 130 pounds. He was wearing jeans, a gray sweatshirt and a black hood. The second suspect is described as being 6-0 and 170 pounds.

The police are seeking information in both cases. Anyone with information pertaining to either of these cases is asked to call (334) 501-3140.

That's horrible that happened. When I was walking back to my fiance's apartment there was a white truck parked on the corner of College and Thatch that some AU fan had bashed the drivers side window in. The only thing on his truck was his UA tag. I felt bad for him and his wife, though they said there was nothing I could do.

It's sad a few idiots can ruin an event like this.

Last night, we're walking down Magnolia after the game and two groups of folks bumped into each other...I guess...you know, something really serious like that. They started jawing at each other and pushing and the next thing you know, someone takes a swing and decks...a blind guy... and knocks a young girl down.

The friends of the blind guy jump in to help him up and confront the low life a-hole that threw the hay maker. We run over to the fiasco and my brother-in-law tries to help the girl up and gets shoved by one of the drunk guys. Fortunately, he showed some serious restraint because I know enough about this 200 lb. Marine to know he would have gone through this kid like a buzz saw. It was apparent by about 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. that the mood around campus had changes a bit and there was one too many young, liquored up folks walking around. Time to go home.

Oh, on a side note. The girl who got knocked down, never once stopped talking on her cell phone.

This all sounds like so much fun. LSU fans really are missing out on this great "rivalry". Is Auburn always this dangerous or is it only when the “rivalry fun” begins?

I might have to start referring to Bama and Auburn fans as the Crips and the Bloods.

Who wants to be the Bloods?

Only when some very, very, very disheartened 'Bama fans are in town...

But whatever the 'violence' occuring now, it is NOTHING compared to what Auburn fans had to deal with when the game was played in Legion Field, after the game you were lucky to find all 4 wheels on your car when visiting that hole of a stadium...

Every school has some bad apples, and every event described above is reprehensible...

But what kind of idiot goes up to the frat houses of his biggest rival and starts looking for trouble by yelling for the other team? I'm not making any excuses for the Frat guys--they should have simply ignored him or have the police escort him away if he's trespassing and perhaps the violence could have been avoided. Still, I certainly have enough sense not to attempt a similar stunt on frat row at Bama...or LSU...or Georgia...any other school!

If he'd had a gun instead of a knife, someone would probably be dead right now and he'd be facing manslaughter charges or worse, praying that his lawyer could make a case for self-defense.

LSU fans attack UT bus, bust windows

Add that to rocking other teams buses, taunting CTT and his wife, and pushing the port-o-let over with the Georgia student inside and I guess Baton Rouge is just a regular Bel-Air or Beverly Hills, huh? And don't forget lighting the Auburn fan's van on fire in Auburn.

Yeah, LSU is the epitome of great citizenry.

What a putz!

Hey pal, five people just got STABBED. If you had to rank those incidents (UT Bus, Georgia student, stabbing) from worst to least harmful, how would you rank them? I rest my case.

Anyways, the situation at hand is pretty horrible. Hopefully those guys recover well and justice is served.

Look here, "pal." I never said the incident wasn't serious. I think it is absolutely abhorent. But if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones.

I think it is all beyond pathetic that football games have come to people getting stabbed, bus windows getting busted, coaches and thier wives being harrassed and students being knocked over in a port-o-potty.

Before you and your corndog buddies come to an Auburn board and begin to take jabs because an Alabama fan pulled knife - correct the Watts type atmosphere that is "Game Day in Red Stick."

Well................ It happens all over the country. We could sit here and bring up moments of ignorance about each others campus, but the fact is this....... MINORITY MOMENT.

Heck, out of the 120,000 plus that congragated in Auburn on Saturday, only .008% of them created headlines. And while I hate it, I can see it.

All of this happened EARLY Saturday morning (before the game). I was at the fraternity house when this happened. And I'm pretty good friends with all of the Fraternity boys involved. The Bama guys walked by yelling "Roll Tide" and so their natural response was "War Eagle". After that the Bama fans started talking trash and tried to start stuff. Well the president of the fraternity went up to the guys to try and get them to calm down and prevent anything from happening. He was then knocked out cold in the middle of the street. After that the guys chased after the Bama guys. Fight broke out and then one of the Bama guys pulled a knife.

3 of the guys are still in the hospital.

Good news: they found the cell phone of one of the Bama guys and had all but one number of their car tag. They now have the guys full name and all they need to do it find him.

That night was very scary for everyone who was there. I've never ever heard of anything like that happening in Auburn, and I know those guys wouldn't just start something for the heck of it. Please keep the guys in your prayers! Thanks!

I was a member of Phi Kappa Tau when I was at Auburn, and TigerCourt's story is pretty much what I heard as well. Bit of a shock to pull into the parking lot on Saturday morning and hear this. I hope the guys are doing well.

I think from the LSU perspective you guys have ripped us pretty good for the behavior of our fans and the incidents that have happenned.

Now it seems that LSU is not the only place that has fans that take things too far.

The bottom line is the University's need to have better security and make sure that people that drink too much get a night in the sober up cell.

There is nothing wrong with alcohol it is just like every other thing you have people that abuse it.

Either way it is a shame these things happen anywhere.

I hope all involved are ok . From the way the article read maybe it was a situation where the guy was by himself and the frat boys sort of ganged up on him.

Just wondering....but did you read what I wrote at all?! I was there! The fraternity did not gang up on anyone! Their president tried to prevent anything from happening! He asked the guy calmly to leave so there wouldn't be any problems! The Alabama fan knocked their president out cold in the middle of the street where he then was HIT by a car!! I'm sure none of this really matters to you! But I was there! I saw the guys! I saw their brothers faces after they had been taken to the hospital! Please stop trying to place the blame and just say a prayer for the 3 that are still in the hospital! Thank you!

Some are you are not understanding this. There are 3 young men in the hospital who were attacked by a "bama" fan but that is beyond the point. It is a terrible tragedy that these guys are in the hospital because of a cowardly attack by an individual. As a member of Phi Tau I just ask your prayers for the 3 in the hospital and for a speedy recovery.
