Southern Cal might be losing both its Thunder and its Lightning.

Running back LenDale White will declare for the NFL draft on Wednesday, a person close to White told ESPN's Joe Schad on Tuesday night. White was expected to make the announcement during an interview on ESPNEWS.

White, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound junior, could be the third major offensive weapon to leave USC for the NFL this year, following the departure of quarterback Matt Leinart. Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush has not officially declared his intention to enter the NFL Draft, but met with a prospective agent Monday.

White finished the 2005 season with 1,302 yards on 197 carries, including 124 yards on 20 carries in the Trojans' 41-38 Rose Bowl loss to Texas. In his three-year career, White had 541 carries for 3,159 yards.

Wow, both of them going. This means USC will start next season ranked #2.

tell you what it really means, dwayne jarrett wishes he was a junior. jarrett now goes from being the primary receiver and 3rd or 4th defensive concern to being the primary offensive weapon usc has. they lose leinart, white, bush, and dominque byrd (one of the best tight ends in the country and a guy who moved the chains for them all year). jarrett's alone now, and it's about to get a lot tougher on him.

and yeah, this is the kind of thing that will drop even usc in the polls. quick name more than one starter on the usc offense for next year!

This is the exact same thing people said about us last year, just remember that...

They might break our "record" as well, for the highest average draft of a backfield.

OH NO!!! The sky is falling, say it ain't so!!!!! USC will probably be good and still win 8 to 10 games, their playing in the Pac10 for crying out loud. They are still head and shoulders above the rest talent wise. They will just be young and inexperienced. New QB, RB, and TE...I think they graduate 2 or 3 on the OL as well. Wonder what their 2006 schedule looks like...searching..searching....

If usc is ranked #2, will ND or TX be ranked #1? :D

Okay here is USC's 2006 schedule

9-9 @ Arkansas

9-16 Nebraska

9-23 @ Arizona

9-30 @ Washington State

10-7 Washington

10-14 Arizona State

10-28 @ Oregon State

11-4 @ Stanford

11-11 Oregon

11-18 California

11-25 Notre Dame

12-2 @ UCLA

Heck they could start out 0-2, that would be laugh out loud hilarious!!!!! Don't you think the Hawgs will try to return the favor and hang as many points on them as possible. Arkansas will open with a statement of an opening game. I bet they are posting schedules with this one circled as PAY BACK. Nebraska won't be too shabby either. That will be a tough OOC for next year. ND will be alot better next year and if their D steps up they will be a force.

When USC came calling here in 2003, it was really Leinart's first action with them, Bush and White were freshmen and Mike Williams was the only proven big gun they had at WR. They have done pretty well since then. I agree that even with these departures, they're still a level above everybody in that league and should be a top 10 team all year long.

They must realize their conference schedule is weak (with possible "competition" from UCLA and Cal) to have an OOC schedule like that. Can't knock them for that at all.

Question. Is the reason they play 9 conference games because they don't have a championship game? Kind of like the Big 10. They play a couple of OOC games then it seems like it's in-conference the rest of the way.

looking at their schedule, they should do fine, we will see what carroll can do, but man, 6 and 6 would be sweet, 0-4 start would probably end espn love-fest once and for all. if they handle inexperience at qb the way oklahoma and fsu did this past year it could be painful to watch even for supposed USC fans.

USC's non-conference schedules have always been very respectable whether the Pac-10 is a strong league or not.

One of the years they played us (2002), they also played Kansas State (11-2), Colorado (9-4, won Big XII North) and Notre Dame (annual opponent who was 10-3 that year)...we were 9-4 in '02.

Bag on them for getting too much hype if you like, but they are one of the few schools out there who will play multiple OOC games that are good quality.

This coming season will show whether or not their recruiting seasons of late have panned out for them...@ Arkansas to open could be tough, but a new backfield held their own against us in '03...can't really tell ahead of time.

USC has plenty of young talent waiting in the wings. They have two quarterbacks who were tops in the nation coming out of HS. I'm not as sure about their RB situation.

However, the game against Arkansas could easily mirror thr AU-Ga Tech game this year. They may need a few games to find their identity, and anyone catching them before this happens could put a whoopin' on 'em.
