I prefer the term ' Drive by' instead of 'Main stream' media.

Glenn Beck tends to get a bit dramatic for me at times, but generally, he's an ok guy.

He definatly nails this one on the head, though. No doubt about it.

I am not going to pretend their haven't been some blunders in the Iraq war. But, it seems there are some in the media and on this board, who for reasons such as an agenda among other things, that would prefer this not be seen.

What HAS been accomplished in Iraq

Yeah, you're right. Anyone who think things are going badly there just misses the big picture.

You are pathetic.

Who said there wasn't anything going bad? Not me. I even said, "I am not going to pretend their haven't been some blunders in the Iraq war." What is your problem with some of us wanting our soldiers' good deeds to be recognized as well?

Many of our service men and women have asked and asked that this information be shown. I don't understand why you have a problem with that. Maybe it's because it doesn't work too well with your agenda.

But, then again, why should I expect anything else from you.

You're pathetic, clueless and easily misled. Frankly, I did expect more of you, but I'll try to learn from this experience and be less apt to make the same mistake in the future.

Yes, you conceded "blunders" in the war. OOOOOhh. Blunders. The clear implication of your post is that despite some "blunders", things are going much better than we've been led to believe due to an agenda of the msm and some on this board, to make us believe that things in Iraq are going badly despite the outstanding effort by so many of our brave troops. I'm glad we've opened schools and provided textbooks and that 98% of kids are now vacinnated against polio. None of that changes the major truths of this war however, i.e. that despite these positive things, this war is not going well and almost all of our assumptions have been wrong. Wake up and get real. The media can't get out beyond the Green Zone without a military escort. They can't safely take the road from the airport to the the city of Baghdad. Nothing wrong with a good feature story from time to time of the difference our troops make in the lives of particular individuals. But I have seen such stories. Unfortunately, those stories don't tell the big picture story of where this conflict is going.

Major truths = stay on template and talk up everything bad while barely admitting anything good is happening.

You are so off base here you are not even in the same time zone. I never implied that "things are going much better than we've been led to believe..." I don't believe that. The video doesn't claim that. That was your knee-jerk reaction. That was not what was in my heart or mind when I made this post. I do think that some of you would rather this never be shown because as long as you can keep the horrible images up front, it gives you more ammunition to attack the current administration. This video was not created to help the administration. The video was made for the troops. Our soldiers have asked for it time and time again. And that is the very reason Beck put it together. For the soldiers and the soldiers alone. The "Thank You" emails from Iraq have apparrantly been pouring in since it aired. This was not a "big picture" type story. One of the the major truths of this war is that it's not all a bunch of baby killing war mongers over there in US uniforms. This was a "don't forget that there are Americans over there actually doing some good things in this awful situation."

You started out making a 'big picture' statement, not once but twice, and it was responded to in kind. Don't throw your hands up now and say it was only supposed to be an innocent, warm and fuzzy post, as if your intentions were misunderstood.

I don't think I misread you at all. As Al points out above, I was responding to exactly what you posted. I don't mind any of those images coming forward. I welcome any good news and I'm sure the troops involved in those images depicted are pleased to be able experience something positive in this tragic situation they have been thrust into by clueless politicians. I welcome those images, and they don't bother me at all. You start out with the assertion that showing those images somewhow bothers the media and some on this board without ANY substantiation or meaningful fact-based argument to support that slander. I read you perfectly. Backtrack if you want.

Well, that's what you get for thinking. I answered Al, you can follow up there. I stated how I honestly think some people on the left feel (see response to Al) and obviously I hit a nerve with you. Tragic situation? Definitely. Clueless politicians? Absolutely. Slander? Hardly. Read me perfectly? About as well as Brodie reads Auburn Defenses. Backtrack? Not even close.

I felt if I didn't qualify it first, the loony left on here would claim I was trying to overlook the bad or claim that things are better off than they appear. I think that there are those with an agenda that would prefer this not be seen until there is a regime change in the US or at least until after the November elections - regardless of what our troops want!

So who here is in the "looney left" and what positions qualify one for that distinction in your mind?

You are looking way too much into this, Tex. If it makes you feel any better - I really didn't have you in mind when I posted it nor did I expect to ruffle your feathers so bad. By the way some people post on here, I get the feeling that they read from the DNC play book and would rather eat dog crap than post something that doesn't attack the right. Just an opinion.
