TexasTiger 13,017
WASHINGTON, DC—Republican officials are blaming tonight's GOP losses on Democrats, who they claim have engaged in a wide variety of "aggressive, premeditated, anti-Republican campaigns" over the past six-to-18 months. "We have evidence of a well-organized, well-funded series of operations designed specifically to undermine our message, depict our past performance in a negative light, and drive Republicans out of office," said Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman, who accused an organization called the Democratic National Committee of spearheading the nationwide effort. "There are reports of television spots, print ads, even volunteers going door-to-door encouraging citizens to vote against us." Acknowledging that the "damage has already been done," Mehlman is seeking a promise from Democrats to never again engage in similar practices. TitanTiger 20,511
Given the amount of outright lying ads the RNC and Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee ran in Tennessee against Harold Ford Jr...ads that even the local news reviewed and proved to be completely false, Mehlman can put a sock in it. It was a disgusting display.

And as for the ad in Tennessee against Harold Ford Jr, are you referring to the pulled ad with the blonde woman saying she met Harold at a Playboy Party? That's the only GOP sponsered ad known outside of the state, I'm guessing. Didn't Harold date outside his race? He did, so that can't be what is 'completely false'

I was referring some other ads...one in particular that outright lied about Ford's record. This ad made four points about Ford's voting record: • Said he took money from porn producers: The fact is, he received money from them and returned it because he said it didn't meet his standards. • Said he voted to recognize gay marriage: Patently false. Ford did not vote that way and in fact voted twice for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. • Said he voted 10 times for taxpayer funded abortions: This was incomplete. Ford did vote in some specific cases involving overseas military personnel to allow it. But the ad lists ten specific votes and most of them weren't even about abortion and Ford didn't even vote in some of them. You can't find 10 votes where Ford voted this way. • Said he voted to give the abortion pill to schoolchildren: Patently false. First, the bill they list was in 2000, before the abortion pill was licensed for use in the U.S. Secondly, the bill listed did not even mention the abortion pill but rather was about allowing schools to give extra doses to contraceptives to students IF the local school board in their area approved it. They ran this ad and another similar to it with similarly ridiculous lies over and over in the last few weeks of the campaign. Made me ashamed to be a registered Republican. Bout the same as all the lies run by Mark Taylor (D) against Sonny Purdue in the GA gov. race. What's your point? They both do it. But the dims and, more specifically, the libs have been bombarding us with lies and half-truths ever since W took office. So what's your point? As usual, when the GOP fights back, they are criticized. When its the dims, they do not even get questioned.

I know what both sides aired here and there was no comparison. The RNC and RSCC were disgraceful. My point was (when I thought the original article was for real) that Mehlman would be the last person on the face of this earth who could be complaining about dirty tactics. Bottomfeeder 244
I'm voted yellow dog in 2006, and if there was no dem challenger, but only a write-in, I wrote in Bottomfeeder. Riley did not recieve our votes. I don't like the way he combs his hair.
AURaptor 1,126
Cute...apparently the repubics are the ones who feel victimized! They want whine with their cheese! You must be kidding. How you arrive at that conclusion based on..ANYTHING, is beyond all comprehension. Both parties are guilty, but the Dems have been, unquestionably, guilty of the hate filled lies more so. It's not a 'whine', it's simply a objective observation of the facts. And pointing out that fact, to you, equates to Republicans 'whining' ?? Very strange indeed. LegalEagle 22
Don't you just love it when telling the truth becomes a dirty tactic! *grin* We deserve more of this: "You're doing a hell of a job Brownie" and to paraphrase: Rummie will be Sec. of Defense for the remainder of my term. Doesn't this mean GW can step down quickly and then have told the truth? Yikes, Cheney as Pres - Can you imagine all of the friendly fire casualties then??? Much of the problem, was , of course, Nagin, Blanco and the folks in N'awlins. As for FEMA's problems, that's just a sad example of what our Fed Gov't has become. Party affiliatiuon isn't the problem, it's the bureaucracy of it all that is broken.

Just pointing out the absurdity of you two-faced dims. You have been lying and spewing forth half-truths for so long its pathetic. As usual, if anyone says anything back to you with their own opinion or half-truth, they become the devil. Pot meet kettle. Morons. BTW. Republicans kicked a$$ in GA. No whining here about the candidates.
