Man shot while delivering newspapers

A 35-year-old Gahanna man was in serious condition last night after his ex-wife's current husband shot him at least twice with a 9-millimeter handgun on a sidewalk, police said.

Michael L. Stiffler Jr., of Deerwood Avenue, was shot in the leg and stomach around 7:40 p.m. in front of 242 Empire Dr., Gahanna police said.

The search was on last night for Leonard R. Myers, 31, of 713 Penny Lane, charged in Franklin County Municipal Court with felonious assault.

Stiffler was delivering a weekly newspaper on Empire Drive when a car pulled alongside him, police said. The man inside, believed to be Myers, got into an argument with Stiffler and then opened fire, hitting him two or three times. At least six witnesses saw the attack.

Stiffler was taken by ambulance to Grant Medical Center.

Myers remained at large late last night.
