***UPDATE*** With all of the recent work done by AU_SportsTalk, Mayor, Jonesy, and the others, I don't think it would be necessary to complete this "thing"!  I'll just pick parts of it out and do profiles on individual recruits whenever they become relevant or newsworthy!

THIS IS A DRAFT OF AN ARTICLE I AM WAS WORKING ON! I NEEDED TO BURY IT SOMEWHERE, SO I CAN COME BACK AND WORK ON IT AND THEN MOVE TO THE RECRUITING SECTION EVENTUALLY!!! PLEASE DON'T MOVE IT OR DELETE IT! THANKS!!

Well the 2010 recruiting season has come and gone, and boy, was it exciting! We were warned that it would be a roller coaster, and it turned out to be just that! Amazingly though, we had MANY more highs than lows! Our staff of All-Star recruiters were able to hold on to almost every single one of our early commitments. Plus, they were able to bring in a couple of signing day surprises that left all of us AU fans smiling from ear to ear...

But, just as soon as recruiting for 2010 ended, it began for 2011! Actually it started way before that. Our coaches have put together a list of prospects that once again includes some of the best players in the nation! And rest assured, just as they have in the past, our coaches will sign more than a few of them. We have joined the ranks of BIG-TIME recruiting, and we are here to stay!

Some of us only follow recruiting sparingly throughout the year, until it starts to heat up later in the year... while others, like me, enjoy following it year round. I thought that it would be helpful to have a running list of recruits that included ones that have committed to AU and also the ones in which our coaches have shown interest and maybe offered or might offer in the future. I have provided links so that we can follow each recruit and keep up with what's happening with them. Please feel free to help me with players that I might left off of the list and also new players that pop up on the AU radar. That way I can update it as we move foward.

Get ready for another AUSOME year of recruiting!

2011 Auburn Football Recruiting

The following is a list of recruits, who have received official offers from AU (according to Rivals, Scout, and other sources). You can click on each player's name, and it will link you to their Rivals player profile page. I have also included their known measurables, their schools of interest with level of interest. I tried to find enough info on these guys so that I could include a small note about each player. There are also links to any video I could find on each recruit. Lastly, since some folks prefer to use other recruiting sites, and because there is sometimes varying info on the different sites, I will include links to each players Scout and ESPN player profile pages. As I said before, I will be updating this list throughout the year. Any contributions/recommendations are welcome, and I will gladly include any new info you guys care to add. Hope you all enjoy. War Eagle!

*__* = Auburn commitment

**Note: The links I've included are for reference purposes only... I do not endorse paying for a membership to Rivals, Scout, ESPN, or any other pay recruiting site! It is my opinion that AUBURNEAGLE.COM is the best and ONLY place to find ANY and ALL information Auburn related including recruiting!

Notes: Plays WR/S. Projects as a big-time college WR! Also a track star. Claims over 34 offers! Looks to be one of the top recruits for 2011. Camped at LSU and Clemson. Look for his recruitment to be a long one. Recently visited Georgia Tech for a second time.

Notes: I listed him as an Athlete, because even though Rivals has him as a DB, he is also a great WR! Scout even lists him as the #4 WR for 2011! He currently holds over 20 offers. Pretty sure that he knows Malzahn from Tulsa days and Trooper/Luper from Okie St days, and thus is intrigued by AU! Maintains a 3.97 GPA.

Notes: Very athletic QB/WR/TE. Started his first game at QB in a victory over Prattville High School, where he out-dueled 2010 LSU signee Sam Gibson. Has stated that he will play "whatever position helps (his college) team the most". Attended AU's Junior Day and left "very impressed" with our staff. Previosly said that he would like to commit sometime over the summer. I personally believe that C.J. could be an extremely valuable asset to our AU team, because of his versatility on offense. Look for this to be a hard-fought recruiting battle with the victor getting a nice prospect.

Chris Sanders

Tucker, Georgia, Tucker; 6'1", 185

*Committed to Georgia*

Notes: This speedy athlete plays safety, receiver, returner, and even punter for powerhouse Tucker. Quoted as saying that he got his "dream offer", when Georga offered him. He proved it by becoming their first 2011 commitment almost immediately after the offer came. Since then, he has been recruiting hard for UGa, so swaying him looks like it could be quite a challenge. One of his top recruiting targets is teammate and fellow Auburn recruit James Vaughters.

Auburn (med), Clemson (med), Duke (med), East Carolina (med), Florida (med), Florida State (med), Georgia Tech (med), North Carolina (med), North Carolina State (med), Virginia Tech (med), Wake Forest (med)

Notes: Versatile North Carolina athlete who plays QB and receiver for his high school team. He grew up a North Carolina fan and has visited there several times. He recently camped at UNC, NC State, and Duke. Two former teammates signed with Duke in 2009. Not sure yet his connection to Auburn yet, but interestly enough, folks at Scout have already projected him to AU! More to come on him in the future, I'm sure.

Brent Calloway

Russellville, Alabama, Russellville; 6'1", 210, 4.6

Committed - Alabama

Notes: Although Auburn is recruiting him as a running back, a position at which he dominates, this unbelievable athlete is also one the top linebackers in the state of Alabama for 2011. He also probably one of the top 2-3 overall players in the state. Committed to UA summer of 2009, before his Junior season. He and his high school coach recently visited Auburn and the AU staff. Seems to be relatively solid to UA right now, even after the visits, but it will be interesting to see how his recruitment plays out now that he's taking more visits.

Erique Florence

Valley, Alabama, Valley; 6'2", 181, 4.5

Alabama (med), Arkansas (med), Auburn (med), Florida State (med), Georgia (med), Georgia Tech (med), LSU (med), Southern Miss (med), Stanford (med), UAB (med)

Notes: Probably the #1 player in Alabama for 2011. Perfectly-sized, very fast, hard-hitting safety! Rumored to be an Auburn vs Alabama battle, although he's been offered by almost every major SEC program. Visited for the 2010 Iron Bowl and again recently with the AU coaches. Has stated that he grew up an AU fan, but parents are UA fans. Ranked #98 in the Rivals pre-season Top 250. Has a twin brother, Eriquel, (they are nicknamed "A" and "L"), who was suspended from high school athletics for a year for fighting during a basketball game. Story here: http://www2.oanow.com/oan/sports/high_school_prep/article/prep_hoops_valley_emerges_from_shadow_of_last_years_brawl/130146/ Definitely among the top targets for the AU coaches this year, with safety being a position of need for 2011. I think AU ultimately get him.

*Izauea Lanier*

Scooba, Mississippi, East Mississippi C.C.; 6'1", 190, 4.5

*Committed* - Auburn

Notes: AU's first comittment of 2011. Committed first to AU in January of 2009 and had the distinction of being the first commitment for Gene Chizik as Head Coach at AU. Failed to qualify and attended JUCO. Improved greatly, while playing safety Freshman year at EMCC. Plans to redshirt sophomore season, in order to have three years to play at AU. Also plans to graduate early in December, so he can enroll in January 2011. I was high on him from the get go! Check me out: http://www.wareagleauburn.com/WEAForum/index.php?topic=7830.0

Jonathan Rose

Leeds, Alabama, Leeds; 6'2", 170

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), Florida State (med), Tennessee (med), UAB (med)

Notes: Son of former Auburn defensive back, Charles Rose. Obviously, grew up a huge AU fan. Rivals compares him to fellow AU recruit Josh Turner. Should turn out to be one of the elite players in AL this year. Has stated that he does not want his recruitment to be a "circus". Plans to commit early. A must-get for AU, in my opinion.

Anthony Swain

Gadsden, AL, Gadsden City; 6'3", 215, 4.6

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), Florida State (med), Tennessee (med), UAB (med)

Notes: This big safety is another one from the list of players seemingly every year from college prospect factory of Gadsden. He's received a lot of early interest from SEC and ACC schools. Visited AU recently, with teammate Daryl Collins, and was "surprised and thrilled" to leave with an offer.

Scout profile: http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=4574945

Notes: One of the top safeties in the nation. His recruitment started out a little slow, but has recently been kicked into overdrive. Seems like he picks up a new offer every day! Very intelligent kid, who claims a 3.1 GPA. Has said that education will  be a very important factor in which school he chooses. Intelligence shows on the field as this speedy, head-hunter already plays his position like a veteran. Hasn't shown much interest yet in AU, but this could change soon. He is doing his research on schools. He even made a during-the-week unofficial visit to Austin to visit UT on his on dime.

Tucker, Georgia, Tucker; 6'2", 233, 4.6

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), Clemson (med), Florida (med), Georgia (med), Georgia Tech (med), Miami (FL) (med), North Carolina (med), North Carolina State (med), Notre Dame (med), Ohio State (med), South Carolina (med), Stanford (med), Tennessee (med), UCF (med), UCLA (med), USC (med), Virginia Tech (med)

Notes: This is not only another awesome recruit from powerhouse Tucker High School, but he is also a great young man. Vaughters is one of the top linebackers in the country for 2011, and he maintains an amazing 4.0 GPA! Obviously, academics are very important to him, and that will play a major role in which school he chooses. Because of this he has major interest in schools such as Stanford, Georgia Tech, USC, and almost every major SEC school. Look for his recruitment to be a long one. He and his father are really taking his recruitment seriously. Even before his Junior season, he visited several schools including USC, UCLA, Ohio St. (where he has family), Georgia, North Carolina (his father's alma mater), Florida, and Wake Forest. He really likes the Ohio St and all the West Coast schools, but has hinted that he would probably not go to school that far away from home. I don't know for sure if Auburn is really on his radar yet, but if the coaches could get him on campus, anything's possible. Maybe fellow Tucker alum Neiko Thorpe can help sway him to AU.

Notes: This hard-hitting, agressive inside linebacker is built like an action figure, although he's not that big. He is a tackling machine and has an instinctive "nose for the football". Plays in Miami's backyard, but named Florida State his early leader. Attended Junior Day at FSU. Recently named a top 5 of Florida, Tennessee, Miami, Florida State, Alabama, and Georgia. Has been quoted as saying that he would probably stay in Florida to play college ball.

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), Clemson (med), Florida (med), Georgia Tech (med), Miami (FL) (med), North Carolina (med), USC (med), Georgia (low), Mississippi (low), North Carolina State (low), Oklahoma State (low), Tennessee (low)

Notes: One of the top linebackers in the South. Awesome mix of size and speed. Committed to Tennessee in October 2009, but decommitted the same day that Kiffen and staff defected. Story here: http://www.volnation.com/2010/02/20/a-j-johnson-still-hearing-from-tennessee/  Seems to be interested in Auburn, but his recruitment is in the very early stages. Said he felt slighted by UGa, when they failed to offer him early on, even though he said they were his first choice. Then again, after his decommitment from UT, UGa angered Johnson by not inviting him to their Elite Junior Day. He attended Georgia Tech's instead. He is currently concentrating on basketball and academics, which he says is going to be an important part of his decision of which school he will attend. Also, he's stated that a "family atmosphere" is important to him, and we all know that is AU's strong suit. Hopefully we can get this big guy on campus.

Brey Cook

Springdale, Arkansas, Har-Ber; 6'7", 314, 5.2

Alabama (med), Arkansas (med), Auburn (med), Duke (med), Miami (FL) (med), Mississippi (med), North Carolina (med), Oklahoma (med), Oregon State (med), Tulsa (med), UCLA (med), USC (med)

Notes: Definitely the #1 player in Arkansas for 2011, this massive offensive tackle will also be one of the top players in the nation. He has offers from essentially every one of the major powerhouse programs. Auburn was one of the first to offer him. Coach Malzahn has had a relationship with him for a while and with his reputation in the city of Springdale, Auburn should stand a really good chance with Cook. He did grow up an Arkansas fan, though, and has also shown alot of interest in Oklahoma and Alabama recently, along with the hometown Hawgs. He has said that he would like to choose a school and commit before his Senior year and then graduate early in December, so that he can enroll in January. Look for Gus to turn up the heat on this guy soon.

ESPN profile: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=101243&season=2011

Opinion: Cook is one of the best OL in the nation. We definitely have a shot with him, due to his relationship with Coach Malzahn, but it will be hard to lure him away from Bobby Petrino, his girlfriend (who attends Ark.), and his homestate Hawgs.

*Spencer Region*

Somerville, Alabama, Cullman; 6'6", 330

Committed - Auburn

Notes: Massive offensive lineman, who became Auburn's second commitment for 2011 in one of the most shocking announcements in recent history. This lifelong Alabama fan had visiting both AU and UA several times. He was all set to make his announcement at a press conference in his hometown that he was going to play his college ball at UA. Then at the very last minute, he had a change of heart and announced that he was committing to Auburn. Lots of speculation of Region's reason for the switch has been made. The fact is that he felt more comfortable coming to AU, because of the "family" atmosphere that the Coaches have created. Look for Region to be one of, if not the, best recruits in the state of Alabama for 2011. He could possibly enjoy the recruiting process and take more visits, but I think he signs with AU in the end.

Opinion: Region has become the anchor of this year's class. He is a natural leader and will be a key recruiter for us this year!

Reese Dismukes

Spanish Fort, Alabama, Spanish Fort; 6'3", 272

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), Clemson (med), Florida (med), Florida State (med), Georgia (med), Mississippi (med), Oregon (med), Stanford (med), UAB (med)

Notes: One the top centers in the nation and maybe the top lineman in the state. Grew up an Auburn fan and attended several games with his family. He was said to be a heavy Alabama lean, and was set to announce his commitment to them. Then after the surprise announcement of fellow lineman and good friend Spencer Region committing to Auburn, Dismukes decided to postponed his announcement. This decision followed by a very successful visit with his friend Region to the Plains has many folks believing that Dismukes is now leaning toward committing to AU. Add to all this that his fellow OL and friend Thomas O'Reilly has also committed to AU. He has said that it will definitely be either AU or UA, so we'll just have to wait and see. I personally think he ends up at Auburn. Set to announce in Mid-April.

Scout profile: http://auburn.scout.com/a.z?s=6&p=8&c=1&nid=4455480

ESPN profile: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=103666&season=2011

Opinion: Dismukes will become the third piece of the puzzle that is our new breed of Offensive Linemen for 2011. The fact that he is already VERY close to O'Reilly and Region, and we could be witnessing the beginning of something special for years to come!

Jamar Lewter

Washington, District of Columbia, Ballou; 6'7", 265, 5.0

Auburn (med), Boston College (med), Georgia (med), LSU (med), Maryland (med), Miami (FL) (med), North Carolina (med), Notre Dame (med), Penn State (med), Pittsburgh (med), Utah (med), Virginia Tech (med)

Notes: I'm listing this big guy at offensive tackle, since that's the position at which every major recruiting service has him listed. But from everything I've read, he would be a better fit in the "Athlete" category. Up until last year, he played tight end and had been projected to do so at the next level. That was until he grew several inches and started playing both offensive and defensive lines. This off-season he's been working out at several positions. He was even named the top lineman at an event in central New Jersey called the Premier Showcase, "an invite-only event for top juniors and selected underclassmen". Just a little FYI, last year's #1 player in the nation, Sharrif Floyd, won this award at this same event last year. Auburn was the first SEC school to offer Lewter, and now his stock is soaring. He recently talked very highly of AU and said that he definitely planned on visiting there very soon. When he does, look for AU to be among his top schools.

Read more from the Premier Showcase in the Sports Illustrated article here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/kristian_dyer/02/23/premier.showcase/index.html

Scout profile: http://auburn.scout.com/a.z?s=6&p=8&c=1&nid=4582378

ESPN profile: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=92882

Opinion: Lewter is one of those players, who I don't think we necessarily "have to have", but more someone, who if we did get him, later on we might say he was a major "steal" in the class!

Gregory Robinson

Thibodaux, Louisiana, Thibodaux; 6'5", 296

Alabama (med), Arkansas (med), Auburn (med), California (med), Florida (med), LSU (med), Nebraska (med), Oregon (med), Southern Methodist (med), Texas Tech (med), Tulsa (med), UCLA (med), USC (med)

Notes: One of the most physically gifted offensive lineman recruits in the nation for this year. Teammate of 2010 Auburn signee Trovon Reed. Unfortunately, this Thibodaux recruit won't be as easy to sign away from home state favorite LSU. Robinson named LSU his early leader, but unlike several of the other top Louisiana players, he is not ready to commit. He has offers from all over the country, but has stated that he would most likely play in the SEC. One good thing for the AU is that our coaches have built a good relationship with Robinson, through their recruitment of Reed. Plus who knows? Maybe Reed could convince his teammate to join him in the promise land!

Video-FREE from Rivals: http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recruiting-football/Gregory-Robinson-Highlights-1-75196  AND  http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recruiting-football/AMP-Rivals250-to-Watch-65213  (with several other AU prospects)

ESPN profile: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=76573&season=2011

Opinion: I think Robinson is a long-shot at best. He looks to be LSU bound, but with our staff, I'll never say never! Having Reed definitely helps.

Christian Westerman

Chandler, Arizona, Hamilton; 6'5", 288, 5.0

Committed - Texas

Notes: This big guy has been a household name in the state of Arizona since he was a sophomore. That's when he broke into the starting lineup for national powerhouse, Hamilton High School. Next he began dominating at several big-time camps, like one's at USC and Texas. Already listed as Scout's #2 offensive tackle in the nation, he will definitely be a 5* in everyone's rankings. Texas did a good job recruiting him early on. He does have strong family ties to the state of Alabama. His grandparents live on Lake Martin (near my hometown BTW and just minutes from AU), and they attend Auburn games occasionally. Last summer, the AZcentral.com reported that "Westerman was taking it easy with his brother Colton in Alabama on Lake Martin, jet skiing and fishing, staying with his grandparents." He also has an aunt and uncle who live in Birmingham, and another uncle who lives in Tuscaloosa. He had expressed interest in both Auburn and Bama saying, "We've got family there in Auburn and in Alabama and around the Southeast." and "My mom’s family is all over the south so they could see me play if I were to go down there for school. Auburn and Alabama are two schools I would like to hear from, along with Nebraska, Michigan and Ohio State.” If he decides to take all his other official visits, he could make one to the Plains, but at this point he looks to be solid to Texas.

Scout profile: http://auburn.scout.com/a.z?s=6&p=8&c=1&nid=3948485

ESPN profile + FREE Video: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=92296

Opinion: One of the top OL in the country. AU had a long shot at him, but Texas is evidently his "first love".

Watts Dantzler

Dalton, Georgia, Dalton; 6'7", 315

Alabama (high), Auburn (high), Georgia (high), Tennessee (high), Vanderbilt (high), Clemson (med), Duke (med), Florida State (med), Georgia Tech (med), Miami (FL) (med), North Carolina (med), South Carolina (med), North Carolina State (low), Stanford (low), Wake Forest (low)

Notes: A very interesting and intelligent young man, who blasted onto the seen after his Sophomore season. His late father played at Georgia, and his mother went there as well. This leads many to believe he is a heavy UGa lean. That is coupled with the fact that he has spent a lot of time on their campus for camps and several visits. One interesting thing about his recruitment is that he has vowed to visit every school that offers him. Amazingly, he is well on his way! He has been offered by close to 20 schools and has visited at least 12 of them already. Has visited Auburn multiple times and left more impressed each time. Made an initial Top 5 of AU, UA, UGa, Tenn, and Vandy, but said that this is subject to change. Looks to be a hard pull from UGa with all of his ties, which also include a former teammate who signed with the Dawgs in 2010 and apparently Dantzler's best friend also attends UGa. Says he's wide open though, so who knows? Loosely scheduled to commit on November 16th, his birthday.

Scout profile: http://auburn.scout.com/a.z?s=6&p=8&c=1&nid=4197802

Opinion: If not for the strong UGa ties, I think Dantzler would commit to AU, unfortunately I think he goes with the Dawgs.

*Thomas O'Reilly*

Marietta, Georgia, Pope; 6'3", 313, 5.4

Committed - Auburn

Notes: Another impressive offensive lineman, who is considered by most to be the best all-around lineman from Georgia for this year's class. Played on his varsity team since he was a freshman. Recruited hard by UGa and Georgia Tech early on, and those two were definitely his leaders, followed by Florida, Auburn, and Alabama, in no order. Grew up a UGa fan. Will probably play guard at the next level, although he is very versitile. Academics are important to him, as evident by offers from the like of Duke and Vandy, and his 3.3 GPA. Visited AU, met fellow AU recruits Spencer Region and Reese Dismukes, and the three became very close friends almost immediately. This friendship and sense of family, along with an excellent recruiting job by our coaches, led O'Reilly to commit to AU in April.

Scout profile: http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=4492578

ESPN profile: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?page=onthetrail&recruitId=89661

Video: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/950377.html  AND  http://recruiting.scout.com/2/909355.html

Opinion: Huge pick-up for AU, both literally and figuratively! There a few key positions that are "must-fills" for us this year, and even more specifically, there are certain players, who we "had to get" to fill those positions. O'Reilly was one of those players.

VIDEO:

Okay… where do I start? This guy has QUITE a story! He kind of reminds me of another AU JUCO recruit, Bo Tillman, in that his story is LONG and filled with twists and turns!

Leon Mackey came out of Christiana High School in Wilmington, Del with a fair amount of interest, mainly from local schools like Maryland, Penn St. Pitt, Notre Dame, WVU, Virginia, and Boston College. Measuring  6-foot-5, 260 pounds, and playing mainly offensive tackle and tight end, but also dominating on defense as well, Mackey was deserving of the attention.  He

He ran a 4.78 forty, 4.37 shuttle and a 7.56 L-Cone. He cleared 32” in the vertical and 9”-1” in the broad jump. Mackey basically devastated anyone he encountered during the one-on-one drills. With an NFL body and amazing speed and power he displayed very good technique with a swim and a rip move that nobody could block.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES

Gabriel Wright

Columbus, Georgia, Carver; 6'2", 260

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), California (med), Clemson (med), Florida State (med), Georgia (med),

Mississippi (med), North Carolina (med), South Carolina (med), Tennessee (med)

Notes: One of the top players in the South for 2011. Plays for powerhouse Carver High School, for Coach Dell McGee, a former Auburn defensive back standout and Arizona Cardinals draft pick. AU has been one of his favorites for a while now, after he visited multiple times with teammate and 2010 AU recruit Corey Crawford. Georgia would probably be the favorite for Wright, if not for a bad situation UG had with Wright's teammate and former UG 2010 recruit, QB Devin Burns. Story here: http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/arkansas-razorbacks/29939-10-ga-qb-devin-burns-maryland-verbal.html . Many have said that he is a heavy Bama lean, but who really knows with this guy? He has a very solid relationship with Coach Rocker and AU was actually his early leader. Check out these quotes he gave to AuburnUndercover.com right before he attended the 2009 West Virginia game. "Auburn is my No.1 and I honestly mean that," Wright said. "I am trying to give all schools an equal chance, but Auburn is definitely my No. 1 and I definitely think you need to see your No. 1 the most." Saban has since turned up the heat on him and has definitely made up some ground to make it interesting. Check out these recent quotes to Bama website CrimsonConfidential.com. “Auburn has always been up there, but Alabama has been making a move and they are sharing the lead right now. But my decision is a long time away. I will probably make my decision after the Auburn-Alabama game next year. I don't want to go all the way to signing day and have all that pressure. I am not only looking at national championships won. I am looking for other things, like a good Fellowship of Christian Athletes program and a good criminal justice program. I need to have a place that has that, because I want to be a criminologist. I would love to get it done by the 30th or soon after. I want to make sure to give Auburn and Alabama the same opportunity. It is nothing against Auburn that I am not going to the junior day, but Alabama has theirs on the same day, and I had already committed to going to that one before I was asked to go to Auburn's.” Wright says his top schools include AU, UA, Georgia, South Carolina and Clemson and FSU. Wright has offers from nearly every school in the SEC and ACC, and has over 21 total offers. Recently, he has been taking alot of visits with teammate Isaiah Crowell.

Auburn (med), Mississippi (med)

Notes: First off, this guy has the best "Auburn Name" in history! This massive defensive tackle, who was called "one of the most dominating defensive tackles to come out of Mississippi in years", has had a tough time breaking into D-1 football. His story is very confusing, but I will attempt to tell it. Hope I don't confuse anyone. He originally signed with Southern Miss, after being named Player of the Year for his region out of Franklin High School in Meadville, MS. He failed to qualify, so he sat out the entire 2008 season, while apparently working on his grades through independent study at a prep school, Mississippi Elite Christian Academy. In 2009, signed to play with his brother Marcus at Ole Miss. In a situation similar to AU's in 2009 with Terrance Coleman, Tillman waited to hear if he'd qualified until the last minute, but again he did not. So now he was forced to attend JUCO and enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson, MS, where he was injured most of his Freshman season with a knee injury, but managed to play in a few games. He played alongside his cousin Josh (who, interestingly, committed to and qualified to enroll at Ole Miss, but chose to go to JUCO instead), Coleman, and former AU commit Reggie Hunt. Read more about his story here: http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1025497  I personally think that this will be an interesting story to keep an eye on. While there is little doubt that Tillman is a daunting physical speciman and will could make an immediate impact on a D-liine, his academic situation leaves several questions to be answered. Add to this the fact that AU will probably only sign a couple of JUCO players this year, and they already have one committed in Lanier. Also, it's my opinion that Tillman's teammate Terrance Coleman will be the better JUCO prospect for the 2011 class. Another appealing thing about Coleman is the fact that he plans to redshirt his sophomore season in order to have 3 years at the next level in order to play 3. We shall see.

DEFENSIVE ENDS

Ray Drew

Thomasville, Georgia, Thomas County Central; 6'5", 236

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), California (med), Clemson (med), Duke (med), East Carolina (med), Florida (med), Florida State (med), Georgia (med), Georgia Tech (med), LSU (med), North Carolina (med), North Carolina State (med), Notre Dame (med), Purdue (med), South Carolina (med), South Florida (med), Tennessee (med), USC (med)

Notes: One of the top speed rushers off the end from this year's class. Holds over 20 offers. Projects as possibly the #1 player in Georgia. Grew up a Florida State fan, and it appears that they may have an early lead for him, although he claims his recruitment is wide open. Two of his high school teammates signed with FSU in 2008, and Charlie Ward is also an alumnus of Thomasville. Very humble and polite young man! Became a licensed minister at age 16. He even left an FSU camp early once, because he had a previous engagement to preach that he had to attend. Quoted in the Times-Enterprise as saying, "I'm looking at the relationships with the coaches and everything. I don't want to go work with a bunch of psychos. Also, the location and everything, the strength of the program, academic-wise and athletic-wise and player-supported traditions. I like those things in a school. My plans are to hold out as long as I can so I know whenever I do make the choice, I won't have any doubts about it. I'll know it's the right decision." Does the "psychos" comment remind you of anybody?

LaMichael Fanning

Auburn, Alabama, Auburn; 6'6", 285

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), California (med), Clemson (med), Georgia (med), North Carolina (med), South Carolina (med), Tennessee (med), UAB (med)

Notes: Two words... Raw Potential. This monstrous defensive end prospect is a transplant to Auburn High from Callaway High School in Hogansville, GA., where he was teammates with another Top 2011 recruit and AU target, running back Quan Bray. Fanning is sort of an anomaly. While he has been dubbed one of the top 2011 prospects in the country by every recruiting service, many people, who saw him play last year, have stated that they believe he is overrated. This may be due to the fact the the Auburn High coaches sought fit to only play him mostly on 3rd down situations last year. One thing's for sure. He has the frame and build of a future star SEC player! Has attended camps at Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and Georgia. UA offered he and Bray their sophomore year, thus making them one of his early favorites. He's visited AU several times already, and is becoming more and more comfortable with the AU staff.

Video: from Sophomore year at Callaway (his 1st year to play football ever): http://br.truveo.com/lamichael-fanning-dete-10th-calloway/id/3985311483  **Notice on this film how Fanning (#44) appears to be very fast and has nice "ball-hawking" skills, but now watch this next film (of one of Fanning's teammates, Randy Bailey) and keep an eye on him (again #44): http://br.truveo.com/randy-bailey-lbfbte-calloway-2010/id/3022037352  **Notice anything different? How about taking bad angles and lots of loafing? This is what has people concerned! Hopefully, LaMichael has fixed all of this, and he will have a stellar year this year.

Xzavier Dickson

Griffin, Georgia, Griffin; 6'3", 238, 4.8

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), Florida (med), Florida State (med), Georgia Tech (med), LSU (med), Mississippi State (med), South Carolina (med), Tennessee (med)

Notes: Another fast, athletic DE with room to grow into his frame. Grew up a Georgia fan, but named Alabama as his early leader after camping at UA, Auburn, and Georgia. Was named Defensive Player of the Year for his Region and had 94 tackles, including 14 sacks and 22 tackles for loss last year. It appears as though Auburn may have some work to do, but definitely seems interested in AU. He said that he plans on visiting AU for sure possibly multiple times. Look for the coaches to turn up the heat on him.

Keymiya Harrell

Plantersville, Alabama, Dallas County; 6'6", 230

Auburn (med), UAB (med)

Notes: Super-athletic prospect, who also excels at basketball for tiny Plantersville, which is outside of Selma. Became an Auburn fan after Selma's Ben Obumanu committed there. AU staff has been on him for a long time. He received an offer on Sep. 1, the first day offers could be officially given. Mr. Everything for his team. Needs to add some weight to excel in the SEC. I do believe that if Auburn gets ready for him to commit, he will.

Jabrian Niles

Mobile, Alabama, Davidson; 6'3", 225, 4.6

Alabama (med), Auburn (med), UAB (med)

Notes: This self-proclaimed "lifetime Auburn fan" is probably the best pass-rusher and possibly the best overall defensive end prospect in Alabama for 2011. He's somewhat of a "tweener" and might not play a "true" DE with his hand on the ground at the next level. But his size, strength and speed are amazing, so he will more than likely play standing up in college. He's another prospect from the recruiting hotbed of Mobile, an area where our staff is trying to make a resurgance in recruiting. Niles hasn't said much about his recruitment, but he really likes Auburn and to a lesser extent, Alabama. At this point, AU has not "officially" offered him, but look for them to real soon. Once that happens, hopefully a commitment will be soon to follow. He visited again the weekend of Feb. 19th, and again left very impressed and anxiously awaiting an offer.

Stephon Tuitt

Monroe, Georgia, Monroe Area; 6'5", 260

Auburn (med), Clemson (med), Florida (med), Georgia (med), Georgia Tech (med), Maryland (med), North Carolina (med), South Carolina (med), UCLA (med)

Notes: One of the top players in Georgia for 2011 and another from the list of awesome defensive end talent in the state for this year. Probably the most versatile defensive player in the state also. Recruited heavily by CU, UGA, and Ga Tech early, and has been quoted as saying each of these schools has been his "leader" at one point. Says he's been told he could play several positions at the next level, including linebacker and defensive end. Also excels at basketball. Plays in 3-4 defense in high school. Quoted as saying he wasn't committing anywhere anytime soon. I don't think Auburn has turned the heat up on him yet, but that could change soon.

TIGHT ENDS

QUARTERBACKS

Kiehl Frazier

Springdale, Arkansas, Shiloh Christian; 6'3", 212, 4.6

Arkansas (med), Auburn (med), Duke (med), Kansas State (med), LSU (med), Miami (FL) (med), Nebraska (med), Northwestern (med), Oklahoma (med), Oklahoma State (med), Texas (med), Tulsa (med), Vanderbilt (med), Western Michigan (med)

Notes: Once again the #1 player in the state of Arkansas is one of Auburn's top recruits for 2011. Frazier has become one of AU's most popular prospects by recruiting fans this year. Scout has him listed as the #6 QB in the nation. Has very strong ties to Coach Malzahn , who coached at Shiloh. Runs Malzahn's exact offense (he even won the "Gus Malzahn Award" from his school). Multi-dimensional QB, who would be perfect in AU's offense. He's also been promoted by Pinnacle Sports, which for those who don't know, is an Arkansas-based company that's owned by Walt Williams, a former player under Coach Malzahn. That same company promoted Michael Dyer. One knock on him though is that he plays for a private school against weaker competition, so the ridiculous numbers he's put up could be skewed. Coaches love his potential though. He's visited AU multiple times and says he speaks with the coaches there weekly. Unfortunately though, he lives extremely close to Arkansas, and both he and his father grew up Hog fans. Also, a lot of heat is on the Arkansas staff to not let a repeat of last year (Michael Dyer) happen. One good thing on that front, though, is that Arkansas has already taken a commitment from another local QB, and that may cause Keihl to stay away. He and his father have already had to fight off local pressure from reports saying that he is an "Auburn lock". Hopefully this will not work negatively for AU. His recruitment should continue to be very interesting. Kiehl also maintains a 3.8 GPA.

When are we gonna get some news?!?!

Not sure what more you'd like to hear (besides if we'd gotten some sort of commitment)!? Pretty much everything has been covered from the "big-name" recruits who have been here the past two weeks. If you missed anything though, I can run back over them!
