I don't follow

This is related to former Rebs coach Houston Nutt and the lawsuit he filed eight days ago against his one-time employer for defamation of character. His team of investigators made a records request on Freeze’s school-issued cell phone, and what they found — one thing, at least — was a curious call to an escort service.

I envy the people here who seem to think this isn't a big deal. We've wasted so much time with Gus already and it's not going to get any better. Now we're going to continue falling behind in facilities. Which will cascade down to recruiting. This is really not good.

Oh I think we understand.   I'm just tired of stressing over a program dying a slow death when the folks in charge have no concern about it.  Would rather focus my energy on the well run programs in the AD until changes are made.  I'll still watch football, but I'm largely going to laugh at our coaching incompetence.

Seems like Gus isn't the only winner since Leath and Harbert wanted to keep him. They obviously won too. So status quo for us and incredibly poor leadership for the university. Since this was what these two wanted all along then they should have manned up when the rumors started flying and nipped it in the bud. It's not hard to support the players at all but beyond that it's a bitter pill to swallow. I used to really look forward to every game. Lately it's been harder to do that when you already know what's coming before kickoff against the big boys of the SEC. I miss not being one of them on a regular basis.

So if Gus sucks next year like we all expect him to Leath should be fired too. His ego and stupidity not only got us in this mess but produced an embarrassment of epic proportions for our university.  Gus will always be remembered fondly for His good characteristics, but not our clown of a president

Shared this elsewhere, seemed to be needed here. I do not want another year of CGM. I am done. I dont think he really has the desire to win anymore.
Openly Predict that 2019 we will go no better than 8-4. Have some solace tho folks. We are still doing better than the rest of the NCAA has so far.

AUBURN IS ALSO THE ONLY TEAM IN THE SEC NATION PUTTING UP MUCH OF A FIGHT WITH THE TURDS.

Oh, potentially,  it's a very big deal for the Auburn Football program.  Worst case scenario is a much bigger deal than anyone yet realizes.  The folks responsible for the current state of Auburn football are going to distance themselves from the mess they've created which means they're not going to do anything to repair the damage.  The people with power aren't going to make changes and the people with money aren't going to trust them with any more funding.  The program is going to dry up.  We're headed for our own personal 40 years in the desert.  Think Miami Hurricanes.  We do have a huge TV in JHS, though, so it's not a total loss.

As fans, it's time to distance ourselves from our situation - to claim nobody could have seen this coming and to assassinate the characters of anyone who did.  Feel free to use the JJ at QB scenario as a template.

I'm personally treating Gus' extended contract and the resultant mess as if my wife had gambled away our retirement money.  Hard times ahead; suffer through it or die.

I make light of it all because I'm absolutely powerless to change the situation.  The absurdity is overwhelming and there's nothing for it, but to laugh.

Josh Moon might write another article and save us all.

Yeah, I knew about the Freeze thing but wasn't sure about the tie in to Gus.

So if Auburn is gonna suck next year (since Gus will still be here) We will have a new coach maybe for 2020 It will take a minimum of 2-3 years for him to repair the damage to the program left by Gus. So I’m being serious when do you guys anticipate Auburn being relevant on the championship stage again?

Depends on who the new coach would be. If it's Bill Clark for example, I don't think it would take him 2-3 year to repair Gus's damage as long as we have even mid level SEC talent when he comes in which would be likely. I think by year 3 he could make us championship relevant. He has almost always gotten the most out of his players everywhere he has been. He probably has contacts all over the South given his past suiccess at the high school level & has furthered relationships in state by exclusively coaching in state at the college level. He knows how to recruit, market a program, & get a community behind a program. Lastly, I think if Clark had the same exact team we have now talent wise & played a Gus AU team on a neutral field I think a Clark coached AU team would beat a Gus team with the same talent by 2 TDs easily.

15-0, ‘ship!

Its a dream scenario, but I GUESS a good season isnt out of the realm of possibility. They'll have virtually the same RB scenario, the OLine will be....ugh...same receiver stable, maybe even better since Gus cant use Ryan Davis for 200000 screens. QB situation cant be worse as long as they get one of the transfers we're hoping for. DL cant be that much worse (against good teams), DBs cant possibly be worse (against good teams),  Deshaun was hurt most of the season but I guess that stable could be worse

Things could be worse, but its more likely that it gets better. IDK how we beat Florida unless Franks just doesnt get better and still starts, Georgia will have lost Fields and should hopefully continue losing commits because of that incompetency plus the bag drying up, LSU should be better but who knows, UA...well. I dont think undefeated is possible, but 9 wins? eh. We really need Kelly Bryant or Fields or whoever plays QB to carry Gus's sorriness and mold it into a successful situation though

Nothing has been said about whether or not Gus will have the salary freeze in place. If Harbert and lover boy Leath have any sense left in their single digit IQ noggins, then they need to give Gus the latitude to hire and fire whatever coaches he wants so he will have no excuses if he falls flat on his face. If they truly support Gus then they need to do this. We need to have the best recruiting class we can muster.

This is important in that when a coaching change is made, and it is very possible after 2019, we need to have as much talent on hand as possible for the next coach to come in and have a better foundation to start his coaching career. We need to hang onto every last recruit that has committed to us. This is good for Auburn football.

If they are keeping the freeze option in tact, coaches from other schools are going to jump all over this and we could lose a lot of recruits. We need a healthy bottom line of quality recruits and players to keep the talent pool intact.

This needs to be made known and not left hanging by its nasty pant seat.  The more clarity and the sooner it happens, the better for Auburn football. I want the best for Auburn football and this includes the players and good fans like who post on this site. Only the good Lord knows what will happen next year. I want the best for our players and fans more than anything else in this world and it begins with keeping our current recruits and bringing in as many quality OLs than can be brought in first and foremost.

This is by no means a sign of support for Gus, but a strong and enduring support for our players and good fans in that this what is important for the future health of our football program.

Just a bunch of miserable ___ks on here. Y’all should be embarrassed.

For what? We know things aren't going to change as long as Gus is here. We can still pull for the team & players while knowing full well the HC is not going to get the best out of them.

I can. I’ve loved AU football all my life. Been through the valley of losing 9 in a row to the Tide, through undefeated seasons,  3 win seasons, and title seasons. I hate what’s happened and continues to happen to our program in terms of these negative cycles, but I will be at the Music City Bowl cheering for and loving my Tigers. Some will choose not to, and I get that. It is what it is for now, and the foreseeable future.

@Gowebb11 I was talking about & read your post in terms of the program not an individual. We all can move forward individually but the program can't as long as Gus is HC unless he goes through some kind of miraculous change that allows him to evolve, adapt, listen to his staff,, & let them do their jobs.

Actually you can’t. You can’t keep this negativity up on public forums and expect to recruit players we need. But I also don’t think you can control yourselves either so carry on. We had a bad year. It happens. We’re not bammer. We will never get to what has been going on there the past ten years and nobody else will either. It is what it is. We over paid a coach to the point of retardation. If we fire him, we ain’t going to be able to afford an upgrade. All that bullsheyt about “the money is there “ was pure bullsheyt. We aren’t terrible. We are Auburn. We have a few mediocre seasons, a few good seasons, then mix in a great season with a bad season in a cycle. Look through history.

Could you be specific....which staff members are being hindered from doing their jobs?      JMO but seems some coaches could be hiding behind Gus and using him for an excuse..... for not developing JS for example which is Chip's job....though if someone came up with some serious video footage of Gus working out with JS I might change my mind.   All the vids I've seem of JS in practice involve Chip and some younger coaches working with him on technique.   Just wondering?  :dunno:
