Newbomb 193
Look the offense gus took over in 09 was a steadily sinking ship. The bs that went on in08 was in no way preparing those plsyers for gus' system. Lets not pretend. You don't think that? It was mostly players that had went through the '08 season changes that played in '09, the only difference was Tubs didn't stick with his OC and let him do it how he needed to and Chizik did. You can't change a system in one year because of the type of players it takes. To do so would take a few season which is why in 2010 the spread was maximized to its fullest potential. #2 was the reason why the 2010 offense was run to the fullest potential, emphasis on RUN He was 90% of the offense, but he didn't hike the ball to himself or catch 185 of his 280 passes. Nor did he run the 1903 yds that Dyer and McCalebb ran. So to say he was the reason the 2010 team was so good is asinine. He was the perfect piece to a team that had been building towards a spread program. Players signed by Chiz and staff that contributed to the 2010 season Omac, Dyer, Emory Blake, Lutzy, and of course Cam Newton The offensive line was already in place so Tubbs can take the credit there. You forgt the JC TE that was converted to Tackle that was a JR in 2010...

JNieder51188 0
In coaching you choose the situation you want to be in. No one made him take the job at Iowa State and they both came from the same exact position. Now take what you just said, rewind it, and say a few times real slow. The question is, what big name coach wants to take over at Auburn? He chose to come to Auburn because whoever made the decision wanted Chizik as the coach. HE made the decision to come here, he didn't have to. So again I say, coaches choose the situation they want to be in. If they choose to go coach at crappy school X and don't succeed that's their fault. Chizik didn't have to leave Texas to go there, but it makes you wonder how come no big time program was after him like Iowa State
jordanharehaint 16
So some college coach contacted Auburn and has shown an interest in the HC job, but wants a certain AD? What big-name coach is strongly attached to his AD? Isn't speculating fun?

Austintxtiger 0
Rich Rod!! Just read the following story: http://network.yardbarker.com/college_football/article_external/richrod_to_auburn/12113146 Southern Fried Sports reports that the same people who supplied SFS with Malzahn to Arkansas State tip last January are predicting that Rich Rodriguez will be the top candidate to replace Gene Chizik if when he is terminated. The reasoning is sound. For the last three years, Auburn has recruited players on both sides of the ball that are suited to playing on a team dedicated to a spread-type philosophy. This year’s attempt to morph into a pro-set has failed miserably, as the players on the depth chart just aren’t suited to line up and play smash-mouth football. Rodriguez is still somewhat miffed over the treatment he and his wife received at the hands of the Alabama media over his on-then-off agreement to replace Mike Shula after the 2006 season. He would like nothing better than the chance to coach in the SEC and extract a pound of flesh over that episode. He would immediately inherit a roster that is geared towards his style of play. Arizona does not currently suck. A team that went 4-8 last year is now 5-3, with wins over ranked teams in Oklahoma State and USC. He knows how to win and how to turn around faltering programs. aubfaninga 16
You forgt the JC TE that was converted to Tackle that was a JR in 2010... Point is, in all of this, Tubbs always had a defense in place to win championships. The "Auburn family" wanted more and was not patient. They wanted the "wow", "boom", "top 10 highlights" stuff. They wanted a high powered offense that was the "new" thing. So Tubbs starting recruiting offensive stars to give the people what they wanted. The change in scheme took longer than the "Auburn family" liked. (which was 1 year by the way) The recruitment of defensive players had to be put on the back burner so we could have this new offense. Now Chiz takes over a program that is going through a transition and does what he had to do to win. And he won a NC in 2010. End of story!!! AUTiger2012 84
I am not the powers doing the hiring, but IMO a "BOOM" hire would be Peterson from Boise, Patterson from TCU, Chip from Oregon, Stoops from Oklahoma, or possibly that Oklahoma State HC. As for a reason, well, maybe its the thought that AU is somewhat down, and that he could be he "hero" who turned the program around and went toe to toe with Saban, Miles, Spurrier, ect in the SEC. Any thoughts?

JNieder51188 0
R-Rod? The same guy who had zero respect for the traditions of Michigan or its players? And tried to sue WVU. He tried to do what Petrino did several times. Get a big fancy contract and state your love for the school and then hit the road as soon as the next big job became available. And still wanted the buyout. There are tons of articles about how big of a d-bag he was at WVU and UM, that's probably why he had to go out west.
