THE WAR ON MARIJUANA IN BLACK AND WHITE

Billions of Dollars Wasted on Racially Biased Arrests

Over-Policing: Between 2001 and 2010, there were over 8 million pot arrests in the U.S. That’s one bust every 37 seconds and hundreds of thousands ensnared in the criminal justice system.

Wasted Time and Money: Enforcing marijuana laws costs us about $3.6 billion a year, yet the War on Marijuana has failed to diminish the use or availability of marijuana.

Staggering Racial Bias: Marijuana use is roughly equal among Blacks and whites, yet Blacks are 3.73 times as likely to be arrested for marijuana possession.

As usual, pull up his record and make it ok he was killed....meanwhile you know while they are suspended they are paid right? You know what that's called to me and you? A vacation. Every time it's the police it's don't know what has really happened....waiting for facts. Meanwhile the victim it's he took karate so he's aggressive, he sold cigarettes, he owed child support shows his character (not anybody on this board that I remember, maybe one or two but generally). Even that Stephen a Smith thread everybody went in on him without actually listening to what he really said....

ok he was killed? Who said that? Look at the comment it was replying to.

You know this country is going to hell when you have people defending the bad police action and the rioters. All of them need to be placed in a cell together.

Expect more of this.....we are in a sad state of affairs.

We need some adults in charge.

Cole you really need to learn to read better. Better yet take off your tinfoil hat an get your head out of your ass while your at it. Nobody has ever said that anyone deserved to die. The truth is we don't know what happened except for he suffered a spinal injury and died. We think we know what happened but we don't for certain. We'll find out and the appropriate action will be taken then.

He was practically a choir boy. Still, he didn't deserve to die. I hope that justice is served in this situation.

"These problems, largely, have their root in the first matter highlighted above – that many municipal police departments face increasing and unrelenting pressure from city hall to fill increasingly wide gaps in revenue with money from fines and citations. Even a well-intentioned police officer who respects freedom, the citizenry, and vulnerable populations can succumb to temptation when his paycheck and his ability to feed his family is put on the line. And in those cases, where legitimate offenses do not occur, he will be sorely tempted to create them, and to create them among the portion of the populace that is least likely to complain and least likely to be believed when they do complain: non-wealthy black citizens." http://www.redstate.com/2015/03/15/many-conservatives-blowing-it-ferguson-doj-report/

sorry. Forgot to put the first sentence in yellow font.

Ok , thanks. This question of " did he deserve to die " is so nonsensical. We don't know what happened. Of course he didn't deserve it, but we don't know the events. Deserve has nothing to do with this.

That's true. I only hope that the truth can be discerned and justice is served - whether that means the police involved are exonerated or indicted.

What he "deserved" is not the topic. The topic sadly IS, the guy persistently found a way to put himself in law enforcement's cross hairs most of the time Yareckon it ever occurred to the guy that there was another way to live life?.His record probably substantiates the age old adage that familiarity breeds contempt. Im betting the po po had had their fill of this guy.

clarity? Are you serious? Did you actually see the whole rap sheet? Assault, burglary and he is no harm? He was a carrer criminal that could not learn a lesson and should have been locked up anyway. Besides this whole forum serves no purpose, if we are going to discuss a topic all info is on the table. And the reason i "dragged" it out is to counter the insinuation that he should not have been pursued. I dont know how he got killed. We do know what led to it. He saw cops and bolted. He was a dope dealer.

Liberalism is steeped in permissiveness. Hell they have so little regard for the law they constantly make law enforcement the bad guys.

Its idiotic to speak at length about whether or not Gray deserved to be killed. It seems quite obvious he did not under the circumstances that are known. However, the question is could he have avoided placing himself so persistently in those circumstances? He didn't and was arrested 20 times on charges ranging form possession to burglary and assault. Ya think law enforcement gets tired of seeing the same guys defiantly doing the same stupid s*** over and over again? As humans i'd say its a safe bet they do. That in no way justifies his killing but he put himself there, - did he not?
