Plus, we're pretty thin ahead of the swelling freshman group (you left our rFR Ryan Davis).

Marcus Davis and Stevens are seniors. Smith and King (a walk-on) are a juniors. Truitt is a sophomore. That's every non-freshman WR with any meaningful game experience.

We're hunting for 4-5 elite WRs because we don't really have bodies for the position. Even if you assume Marcus Davis, Tony Stevens, and Jason Smith are going to be great together, there are a LOT of snaps available for any WR in the top 6-7 rotation.

we burnt Ryan Davis's redshirt with the Woody play.

Yes, if you are going to burn a redshirt on one play, that is definitely the way to do it.

It certainly contributed to an SEC win.

Our best game of the season - the only one I went to.

Ryan Davis won't be a freshman next year. :)

No, you're definitely right. I find it absurd that we used a year of eligibility for a guy that never saw the ball again. If you're going to burn it, then play him after that as well.

We had a package of plays for him ... consisting in Woody.

Well. If the coaches figured out that a player is probably never going to be significant contributor, maybe they decided to encumbered the 85 limit for 4 years vice 5.

Yep. A big play that led us to that 6th win when beating Idaho. Then we went bowling and saw a bowl win in dominating fashion. Worth losing the redshirt.
