Four Auburn Golfers To Play In U.S. AMATEUR

3 current player plus one who just finished at Auburn. Will do a great job representing Auburn. Olympia is a very good and fun course to play. Its also Dan's home course

AUBURN, Ala. – Current Auburn men’s golfers Michael Johnson, Will Long and incoming freshman Jacob Solomon along with graduate Dan Stringfellow will participate in the U.S. Amateur at the par-70, 7,234 yard Olympia Fields Country Club North Course in Olympia Fields, Ill., Monday through Sunday.

Johnson, a redshirt senior from Birmingham, earned All-SEC second-team and All-Southeast Region honors as a junior for the Tigers. He won the first two events of his career at the Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner and the Gary Koch Invitational where he was co-medalist. In September, he broke the school 54-hole record with a 12-under 200 at the Primland Collegiate Invitational.

Long, a junior from Gastonia, N.C., had a 72.65 stroke average last year with a career-best 11-under 205 runner-up finish at the Schenkel Invitational. He tied for third at the Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner in an effort that helped the Tigers win the event by 28 strokes.

Solomon, an incoming freshman from Dublin, Calif., was the No. 24 ranked prospect for the 2015 class according to Golfweek was named to the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Boy’s Golf first-team in June.

Stringfellow, who will be playing on his home golf course at Olympia Fields, graduated from Auburn in business administration in May. He was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar.

Stringfellow had a 71.71 stroke average as a senior and won his first career tournament at the Schenkel Invitational with a career-low 12-under 204. An All-Southeast Region selection, Stringfellow will be participating in his second U.S. Amateur, advancing to match play last year at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

Practice rounds for the U.S. Amateur are Saturday and Sunday followed by two rounds of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday on both the North and South courses. The field will be cut to the low 64 for the beginning of match play on Wednesday.
