This thread continues and I sense that this Will Hastings fella might develop a cult following of Wade Christopher proportions.

Also Will Hastings looks just like Sunshine in the face from Remember The Titans. I hope my favorite quote in the movie about Sunshine also applies to Will. "That's a bad white boy"...

Sadly I never knew nor still don't know who Wade is other than an Auburn message board legend.

I remember when he was at Auburn but beyond that...I agree.  But there is some funny stuff comes out of that.

On the reality side, I'm actually quite impressed with what I've seen (videos, numbers) from young Mr. Hastings.  I'll be very interested to see what, if any, contribution he makes to the 2016 Tigers.  Good luck to him and War Eagle!

Dang... where has this picture been hiding?  If they've got the hands, it looks like Hastings and Truitt might be the key to the short passing game we've been longing for.

Seeing Sean White's "Highlight" video and then Hasting's Highlight Video I can see this being a very effective QB/WR connection based on their skill sets.  White is really good with short to intermediate passes and that seems to be Hasting's bread and butter.  Although the main concern I have about it would be not to get Hastings leveled by an opposing LB or Safety.  Have to make sure he has some space to catch and run.

Sean is really quick, he just doesnt have the top-end 40 speed that everyone gets all bent out of shape about.

It's crazy how some clowns want to argue over that 40 time and other dumb stats instead of just watching what the kid can do on film.

Here is some other info on him. It is interesting that a kid at a 5A school in Arkansas can put up those numbers and not get more consideration from schools and recruiting services. But if you attributed his stats and his metrics to some unnamed, un*pictured* athlete and said, "Does he sound like a WR Auburn could use?", I guarantee you everybody around here would say, "He's a little short but otherwise, don't see why not."

Btw, I'm not getting worked up about Hastings. Not yet. Just happy for the kid and not writing him off. Some beat writer types said not to be surprised if he learned his name this fall. Well, achievement unlocked.

Oh, one other thing. If Antonio Brown isn't the best WR in the NFL, he's next. 5'10, 181, 4.47.

I don't believe WH will see the field much at all. If he does? Ouch. Waste of reps.

I just know Gus talked about him in the presser... That says an enormous amount to me about a tiny walk on white kid...who can apparently flat out ball.

Holliday wasn't anything special at receiver. Returner is a diff story.

While I agree, the statement I had quoted said 5'11 and under needed to be RBs or Ks to excel.

You are famous on the rant for this statement. In not such a good way though haha

He went to a very expensive private school in Arkansas. Speaks for itself.

Freaking Pula$ki Academy. ESPN did a segment about them because they always go for it on 4th down and very often onside kicks it, no matter what. Ironic that he was a kicker there seeing as they really don't utilize their kickers very often even on extra points.

Does this mean he is an onside kick specialist? Clemson had a terrible hands team last year. N.C. kicked 2 in a row and almost got the ball both times and then bama got the one in the championship game. Just something to watch if it comes down to a possession.

When we are in the 4-2-5 which will be most of the time Holsey very well may start at the Nickel til Roberts gets back if he ever gets back as a starter. It's either Rudy at Safety & Holsey at Nickel or Ruffin at safety with Rudy at nickel.

I think the 2 MLB spots (Mike & Will) surprise most people but remember Tre is coming off injury & it's possible he is not 100% yet. Also T-Will apparently plans to rotate Tre, TJ, Monty, DD, & maybe even Darrell a lot in those 2 spots.

Thanks E! I have been out of the loop now that I am in 'adult world'

I hope so because there is no way he got any real live game experience kicking at P.A.

I remember someone mentioning Hastings after the spring training video by Ryan Russell being cat quick, but damn demolishing 3 team speed/agility records that go back at least a few years. His awareness can serve him well exploiting zone coverages and that quickness could get him to the open field in a hurry. However, I agree with @McLoofus that I'm tempering expectations but filing him in the nice surprise category. Hell Clemson fans were probably saying the same about Hunter Renfrow last yr.

Darius Slayton starting. I love it. Can't wait to see what he can do. Also....Nate Craig. Watch out!!!

I still think NCM will have a big year. I don't think most people know SW spent a year or 2 playing 7 on 7 camp football together. There should be a good comfort level there.

I didn't know that, actually. I'm as high on Nate as I've ever been on a receiver, though. He's got a special ability.

Trying to decide if it's good or bad that none of our WRs from possibly the best WR recruiting class ever really don't seem to be challenging for starting positions.

Obviously that could change as the year goes on, but I thought at least one of them would be pushing for some serious playing time from the beginning.

STAHP. You are overthinking it. It will all work out. :wareagle:

Well, the actual depth chart is much closer to what I would have expected. I probably shouldn't have taken the one rivals put together seriously at all.  It was more a question about Auburn's ability to get WRs up to speed as quickly as many other schools are able to.

We're definitely still waiting for our Christian Kirk or Calvin Ridley. At least one of these guys has the talent, now it's up to their coaches.

Anybody notice Slayton's name all over that board with the DBs/Safeties? Makes you wonder what he could do on defense (especially with Dean's injury). But he is penciled in as a starter on O so what do I know......

Alright, so Clemson goes with a 4WR/1TE set. Who do you man up with on each?

Mike Williams, 6'3" 225 / 57-1030, 6 TD (DNP 2015; 2014 stats used)

Artavis Scott, 5'10" 190 / 93-901, 6 TD

Deon Cain, 6'1" 210 / 34-582, 5 TD

Hunter Renfrow, 5'11" 180, 33-492, 5 TD

Jordan Leggett, 6'5" 260 / 40-525 8 TD

Well AU recruited him strictly as a DB til the last 2 months of his recruitment. The main reason AU made the switch was because DS wanted to be a WR & AU was liking his Senior WR work.

He was recruited both ways out of high school as I remember.
