That doesn’t bode well for his chances when it comes to Auburn.

ellitor 33,104
Some targets to track from Georgia... Quote The targets to know in Georgia By Keith Niebuhr 4 hours ago Year in and year out, the state of Georgia has been good to Auburn. That's why the Tigers put so much time and energy into recruiting the state. From 2016-20, Auburn handed out 228 offers in Georgia. That's 19.8 percent of the total offers given. During the same time period, 38 Auburn signees came from Georgia -- or 32.8 percent. So as you can see, it's worth the effort. In the 2021 class, Auburn again has many targets in Georgia. Thus far, the Tigers have offered 28 recruits in that class. What's interesting, though, is that this number is far behind Florida (50) and even Texas (35). That might indicate that, at least in Auburn's eyes, the state of Georgia might be a tad bit top heavy in this particular recruiting cycle. On the other hand, this is the time of year (April and May) when in-person evaluations would be made -- and new offers might have gone out. In any event, despite the numbers this cycle, the state remains a huge priority. Here are 10 notable 2021 targets in Georgia ... Amarius Mims, OT 247Sports evaluation: Possesses an elite combination of size and length for an offensive tackle. Has rare length by way of long arms and big hands along with a sturdy build with room to add some muscle to his frame. On the hoof, looks as good as you could hope for at this stage for an offensive tackle prospect. Already is over 300 pounds without much bad weight. Shows his athletic ability while playing both ways at offensive tackle and defensive end. Moves well at the second level, using quick feet and his length to get his hands on linebackers. Shows good flexibility and bends at the knees. Has some pop in his hands and easily plants opposing defensive linemen on contact. Will need to continue getting stronger and refining his pass set technique. Looks to have a very high upside early on and should develop into a top national prospect. Has the ultimate upside of developing into a multi-year starter at the Power 5 level and eventual high NFL Draft pick. 411: According to Mims, Alabama leads, followed in order by Georgia, Clemson, LSU and then Auburn. But worth noting is this: He has visited Auburn twice already this year and he wants to play early. The Tigers' need at tackle may give him the clearest path to the first team of any contender. Still, this seems like an uphill climb. Smael Mondon, LB 247Sports evaluation: Possesses outstanding length for a linebacker. Has some muscle mass without bad weight. Should fill out significantly once he gets in a college strength and conditioning program. Shows his athletic ability playing all over the field for his high school team as a ball carrier on offense and linebacker on defense. Has the speed to outrun defenses for long scores. Has a long stride in the open field and runs very well. Capable of making game-changing plays in all three phases. Athleticism transfers over to defense where he shows high level range in playing sideline-to-sideline and running down plays in pursuit. Looks to be a natural mover in space and makes some plays while dropping into coverage. Will need to continue progressing as a read and react run defender. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power 5 level with the upside of developing into an early round NFL Draft selection. 411: This talented 5-star recruit probably is one of Auburn's top two linebacker targets. He visited the Tigers earlier this year and has built a nice bond with linebackers coach Travis Williams. The competition, though, is fierce. Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma are some of the other programs to watch. Terrence Ferguson, OG 247Sports evaluation: Possesses adequate stature and good length for an offensive lineman. Has room to add good mass to his frame while also reshaping his body once in a college strength and conditioning program. Works at left tackle for his high school, but could project at several spots along the offensive line at the next level. Is a functional, athletic mover and marries his footwork with his length and heavy hands, making him a punishing run blocker. Plays with an edge and finishes blocks with authority. Effective in getting a push against defensive ends while also having the athletic ability to get to the second level against linebackers. Looks more advanced as a run blocker than in pass protection at this point, but shows signs of developing into an effective protector in the pass game with his length, feet and ability to anchor on contact. Has a little positional uncertainty and some lack of true athletic context at this stage and will need to continue developing from a technical standpoint. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the upside of developing into an early round NFL Draft pick. 411: Although there hasn't been much chatter here regarding Auburn, supposedly the Tigers are at least somewhat in the mix. Most consider Georgia to be the favorite, but don't sleep on Alabama or Florida State. Barrett Carter, LB 247Sports evaluation: Shorter linebacker but has a relatively filled out frame with long arms. Could potentially top out around 240 pounds once in a college strength program. Has shown his speed by posting 40 times in the 4.5 range at college camps. Plays at one of the better high school programs in metro Atlanta and in Georgia's highest classification. Primarily plays on the outside at this point and sees success as a pass rusher off the edge and in chasing plays down in pursuit. His speed transfers over to the field, as he closes quickly and shows the ability to make some athletic plays in space. Shows good play strength and has some striking power. Is better as a blitzer and space player than as an inside, instinctual run defender at this point. Solid, not elite production as a junior, particularly from a one-way player. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the potential to develop into an NFL Draft pick. 411: Auburn has made Carter a priority and because of it, the Tigers are very much in the thick of things. Clemson is trending some right now, but Auburn probably has the best shot outside of that program to land him at this time. More visits are coming. Nyland Green, CB 247Sports evaluation: Has excellent stature and length for the position. Owns a lean build with room to fill out. Long-limbed with large hands. Is a bouncy athlete capable of making some above the rim dunks on the basketball court. Productive on both sides of the ball, playing receiver and corner. Shows high-level ball skills with the ability to track and high-point in contested situations. Can pluck the ball off the ground and come down with diving catches. Also works as a safety some for his high school team, showing range playing in cover two. Physical at the line of scrimmage and can use his length to disrupt wide receivers' releases. Shows fluidity in man coverage and can flip his hips and stay attached downfield. Will need to continue honing his cover technique and getting stronger but shows a promising skill set as a big outside cover corner. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the upside of developing into an early round NFL Draft pick. 411: It sounds like Auburn, Clemson and Georgia may be the three to watch at the moment. Green visited Auburn earlier this year and he said that went extremely well. If Georgia pushes, the Bulldogs might be tough to beat. But as of now, this could go in a number of different directions. Cody Brown, RB 247Sports evaluation: Filled out frame and is very developed physically. Already has considerable muscle mass despite entering his senior year of high school. Looks like he doesn't miss much time in the weight room. A strong, power athlete who has excelled in the shot put in discus, especially relative to his size. Productive as a sophomore and junior against strong competition in a high classification of high school football in Georgia. Excels as a downhill runner with the ability to run through arm tackles at the second level. Decisive in reading his blocks and doesn't hesitate in getting upfield. Flaunts a strong stiff arm and runs with good contact balance. Lacks high level burst and a true top gear in the open field at this point. Projects as a Power 5 starter with the upside to develop into an NFL Draft pick. 411: This is starting to look like it might end up being an Auburn-Tennessee battle. Right now, the Tigers are pushing hard and Gus Malzahn has gotten heavily involved in this recruitment, per our sources. Auburn seems to be trending in the right direction, but he's certainly no lock. Jonathan Jefferson, DE 247Sports evaluation: Big bodied defensive end that is a good candidate to kick down to an interior defender. Thick frame and not overly long. Basketball player that is athletic enough to be a situational jump ball wide receiver in high school. More of a 3-4 end than a true edge rusher but has some positional versatility. Big body that can move. Checks the box on productivity. Monochromatic as a pass rusher with limited bend and nuance. Will take what is there defensively but not necessarily a disruptor. Naturally strong but needs to be more assertive. Versatile defensive lineman with a coveted body type that is a likely Power Five starter with NFL Draft upside. 411: The 4-star defender committed to Georgia in March, but we don't think Auburn will stop recruiting him. According to our sources, defensive line coach Rodney Garner is extremely high on Jefferson and the Tigers no doubt will be pushing Garner's track record for producing NFL talent -- especially after this year's draft. Can Auburn get Jefferson back on campus? Dylan Fairchild, OT 247Sports evaluation: Has a well-proportioned build with the frame to easily hold over 300 pounds. Leans out during the winter during wrestling season. Strong in the weight room in addition to being an excellent wrestler. Transfers that strength and functional athleticism over to the football field. Works at left tackle and defensive tackle for his high school team. Plays with natural flexibility and bend with the ability to sink his hips and play with a low, centered base. Has high-level reactive quickness in pass protection as he's able to mirror and redirect with ease. Also effective to getting to the second level as a run blocker. Showcases some athleticism as a defensive tackle, particularly via a strong first step that helps him make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Likely projects inside at the next level. Will need to continue improving his upper body play strength and finishing ability, particularly as a drive blocker. Projects as a multi-year Power Five starter along the offensive line with the upside to develop into a NFL Draft pick. 411: It feels like there are four teams to watch for the 4-star tackle: Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. The Gamecocks got in on him fairly early and he seems to have a good connection to the staff. Auburn offered earlier this year and he already has visited the Tigers twice. Auburn is a major player here, and certainly has a legitimate chance of landing him. He wants to play early in college and given Auburn's need at tackle, there is a path for that to happen. Georgia certainly is in the mix but one wonders if that program's exceptional recruiting at oftensive tackle the past few years could hinder it here he since he's trying to get on the field soon. I don't have an answer to that. Javon Bullard, CB 411: If it pushes, Auburn will be tough to beat for this 3-star recruit. Bullard, a 5-feet-11, 165-pound standout from Milledgeville (Ga.) Baldwin and the No. 55 cornerback nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite, is a defensive back for Auburn fans to track in the 2021 class. According to Bullard, Auburn was the first SEC school to offer and that was significant to him. “It’s really just a vibe down there,” Bullard said. “The coaches, the players — I’ve been to a couple of games, I went to a camp. The coaches know what they’re talking about. I like everything — the facilities, the campus, and of course, it’s an SEC school. I’m a Southern boy — it’s always been my dream to play in the SEC.” Miles Campbell, TE 411: Auburn offered the 3-star tight end April 8. He's listed at 6-feet-3 and 220 pounds. In 2019, Campbell finished second for South Paulding High in receiving (54 grabs for 620 yards and seven touchdowns). He also rushed for a pair of touchdowns. His offer lists grows weekly and now Auburn is trying to get in the mix. Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina are among the schools involved.
