Mostly Chad. He’s recruiting what he knows. Also we’re not really going in Mississippi anymore so now they have their eyes set on Texas more now

Chad except for CTJ last year. I think McGriff had a connection to him.

This makes good sense and might ease the sting of losing Woodson. Maybe a lot.

No point in going in Mississippi anymore when you don’t have the coach with the connections. The coaching staff just playing to their strengths and letting Morris offer the guys he wants

One of the top tight ends in the country now calls Auburn one of his top schools.

Dametrious Crownover, a 4-star recruit from Grandview (Texas), named a top 11 Sunday of Auburn, Baylor, Colorado, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M. While it's only a top 11, at the very least is signifies Auburn still is in the hunt for the 6-feet-6, 235-pound recruit.

Crownover is the No. 8 tight end and No. 222 overall recruit nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

His father was a defensive lineman at Baylor. His brother, running back Earnest Crownover, was a 2020 Texas A&M commit.

In 2019, Crownover was a first-team all-district selection at defensive end. It appears, however, his future may be on offense. Auburn signed two tight ends in 2020 and two more in 2019. Yet, the Tigers still would like to take one in the 2021 class and they hope to find another elite talent at that position. 

Here is his 247Sports recruit evaluation: "Possesses elite height and frame length with space to continue adding good bulk. Tall, long, two-way prospect at tight end and defensive end. Started both ways for Texas 3A D-I state champion as a sophomore. Two-sport standout in football and basketball. Potential to play tight end or strong-side defensive end. Far more tape on defense than offense so far, but basketball skill suggests high ceiling at tight end. Wins with size and natural athleticism. Good ball skills likely influenced by basketball background. Big hands and encouraging hands-catching ability despite relative lack of pass-catching reps for a TE prospect. Needs to improve pad level and leverage consistency due to high center of gravity. Will face significant jump in competition going from smaller-school level in high school to high-major in college. Raw and will need to hone route-running skill. Owns elite physical tools and a lot of potential. Could become multi-year high-major starter with long-term potential to reach NFL Draft."

More importantly because the talent's not there like it was the past couple years. If the talent was still at that level we'd still be recruiting Mississippi. Remember McGriff has great connections there should we need it.

AU got a number of crystal ball picks today for Dematrius Davis, Caleb Johnson, Garner Langlo, Jeremiah Williams, & Tar'Varish Dawson. Even though we haven't had any commits since Gooch ,247 analyst Steve Wiltfong says AU has a lot of momentum on the recruiting trail right now.
