Bill to ban congress critters from owning or trading stocks...

Interesting co-sponsors...

Ocasio-Cortez and Matt Gaetz

On the surface, this is a good start, even though I have my doubts about it passing.

Pelosi and Crenshaw will no doubt be hard "no" to this.

Hopefully it passes. Keep the conflicts of interest out of politics.

They weren't already?

Banning stock manipulation means that Congress cant get gifted stocks, options, etc as de facto bribes. Congress and some lobbyists will hate that.

I understand that. I was saying aren't they already among the most hated in DC?

I love the intent of this bill, however I think it’ll be about impossible to truly stop it.  For example, the House Oversight committee is tracking 9+ members of the Biden family that have red flagged transactions from foreign entities, and numerous actions between families members after that.

It's not realistic, nor is it fair to prevent politicians from investing their money.

A better and more realistic solution would be to force them to put their investments into a (truly) blind trust.

Yeah.  We've come a long way since Billy Carter.  ;D

We cannot stop family members from profiteering from association with a POTUS.  Hell, even the POTUS at issue can't stop it.

All we can hope for is the POTUS at issue doesn't incorporate them into government to promote it.

Or allow a family members business partners to visit him - especially at work
