SEC Softball Tournament 2023 bracket, schedule, TV info

Maxwell Donaldson, The Tuscaloosa News
~3 minutes

The SEC softball regular season has come to a close, and seeding for the SEC Tournament was finalized Sunday.

The tournament will start Tuesday, May 9, with the championship set for Saturday, May 13, at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Razorbacks are the defending champions.

Tennessee clinched the SEC regular-season championship last week with a win over second-place Georgia. Alabama softball, Arkansas and Auburn were tied for third heading into the final weekend, with the Razorbacks and Tigers holding tiebreakers over the Crimson Tide. Those results held up in the final three games; Auburn finished third and Arkansas fourth.

The top four seeds earned a double bye in the tournament. The bottom two teams in the conference standings will play in a play-in game Tuesday, with a full slate of games Wednesday.

Ole Miss beat LSU 5-3 in 10 innings. We play Ole Miss at 10:00am Thursday, if there are no weather delays today.

Well, there has indeed been a weather delay.  USC and aTm scheduled to re-start at 8:10, top 8, USC leading 1-0.  Mizzou and Alabama to play after that.  UK-Florida postponed until tomorrow, time not given.  If they play first game, that will push us out until about 1.  I'm thinking we need to start Lowe, or start Penta and bring in Lowe after 3 innings.  We will need Penta to beat Georgia, if we get that far.

We are 35 mins after 1st game.  UF at 10am slot.  Better to start Lowe and bring in Maddie or vice versa?  I like not using Maddie up though.  Lowe is usually good for a 2 run homerun this year.  So don't want to get behind early

I actually like that we are playing at 1:00 today instead of 10:00. Let Florida and Kentucky deal with weather and delays. It is supposed to clear after that so even if we are late starting, maybe we can simply play the game without having to start and stop.

This isn't baseball.  Penta could easily pitch all 3 games in the tournament if necessary.  Not ideal, but other teams in the past have used one pitcher in post season play.  My only issue starting Lowe is for some odd reason, she doesn't get the run support.  Our bats just aren't up to par when she pitches for some reason.  Remember Lowe is also on a pretty strict pitch count.

I realize that and pretty sure we will use Maddie the majority of the regional/ super/ WS if we get there.  I know Paige Parker pitched every game until that game 2 of WS.  I am sure we will pitch Maddie today.  1 win may be the difference in hosting or not. Probably have to win a few if they are not in line for it at the moment.

You are right about Lowe not getting the support at the plate.  You almost think it should be opposite.  We could use more support for Lowe and less for Maddie.  Let's just hope we support all of them going forward :)

2-0 Auburn after 1 inning. Peralta was called out at the plate on an aggressive send by Lenti when Tresvik singled, but it looked like she got under the tag on replay. No challenge by Dean.

Garcia saved the inning with a single of her own scoring Ellis and Tresvik.

Maddie in the circle for us.

Maybe Maddie should have rested.  Her command is unusually all over the place today.  Her strikeout was a big one with bases loaded and one of the best SEC hitters. In the 3rd, Maddie has hit a batter (2nd of game) and multiple walks.

4 runs in the 3rd and Ole Miss leads 4-2. Penta getting pulled for Widra.

Hopefully Maddie didn't have a confidence break there.  Let's get out of this and get the bats going.

Auburn was down 6-2 but has now just tied the game at 7 in the bottom of 5th!! Tresvik with the 2 run HR!!!

And Penta wants back in.  She's warming up.  Kudos to the hitters for backing Maddie up and getting her back to a clean slate.

Auburn gets 2 on. McCrary sacrifice bunt, a good one.  Runners 2nd and 3rd with 1 out for PH Blaine

Blaine walks on 4 pitches.  Another PH. Roach returns to game to bat.  So many intricacies to softball lol

Ugh stupid!!!!! Packer tags on fly to center and gets out at 3rd before the run scores at home.  Runner coming home was just trotting at the end.  Lost a run there.  Dang it.

Review.  Batter claims HBP but she was out over the plate.  Should be strike

Ball likely hit the batter, but was it in the strike zone when it hit her.  Ugh changed to HBP. Don't agree with that.  She made a bunt attempt but when pulling back kept her hand in zone.  Doesn't matter since next batter fly out to RF. Bottom 6 with Auburn up 1.
