This is a quote by AU's top rated player in the '24 class linebacker Demarcus Riddick.

"Riddick was most recently in Auburn to watch the Tigers take on the top-ranked team in the nation and the program he was previously committed to — Georgia. Although Auburn didn't come away with the upset victory, it was encouraging to see how competitive of a game it was, even with Auburn as heavy underdogs.

"I had fun because I know that Auburn’s good enough to compete with any team in the nation," Riddick said. "We competed with the No. 1 team in the nation, what do you think we’re gonna do with the rest of these teams we get ready to play?"

With what Riddick described as a "great" atmosphere inside Jordan Hare Stadium, he kept a close eye on how the defense operated, noting how the linebackers were "flying to the ball" and the defensive backs were "locking stuff up". It gives him a lot of confidence in the future of the defense.

"It just gives me the momentum of knowing that ‘Oh yeah, I’m gonna be able to do the things they’re doing," Riddick said."

The complete article is in a post by Paladin on the last page of the thread about Riddick. It looks like play on the field mattered to him.

To be encouraged does not imply that the play on the field is a make or break matter. You are looking at one side of a coin. The other side would be if play on the field had been terrible would it make him want to go somewhere else? IMO the answer is no because that only reinforces the need for better athletes and playing time for new recruits.
The history of Freeze turning programs around has to have been communicated to all our recruits.

Recruits are being sold on being the guys that build and lead into the future.  They know what we have and know that they can come in and push for immediate PT.

did we give up on this guy?

@AUGoo Nope. Supposedly feel better about keeping him than a few weeks ago. The general thought is the longer DC goes without decommitting or flippin, the better AU's chances.

I doubt if we have given up. He's still committed so he hasn't given up on us, at least yet.

It feels like he's two-timing us though.  Kinda like a guy feels when his middle-school girlfriend starts talking to another guy.

I guess Texas gave him something to think about, but if you follow his social media he has seemed to be all Auburn all this time.

Aside from commitment tweets for some of his friends, this kid only like Auburn tweets and tweets from other Auburn commits.

Will be good to get him here for the Iron Bowl so he can continue to bond with his recruiting class.

Carter: 'I just stayed with what I love'

Over the last month and a half,DeA ndre Carter made a difficult decision.

Should he flip his commitment from Auburn to Texas, or should he stick with the Tigers? Both schools had a strong message that Carter had to take into consideration, but when it came down to it, he decided that his heart was with Auburn.

"Texas was trying really hard to flip me," Carter said. "I just stayed with what I love and fell in love with at Auburn. All the coaches, the relationships, the family feel, the players, the education and everything I just loved about it. The new program and everything."

Carter took an official visit to Texas at the end of September and into October, and in the weeks following, it appeared that the Longhorns had made quite the impression. Texas walked through its vision for Carter in the program, explaining how they'd utilize him and how big he'd be for the Longhorns if he were to flip.

"I was definitely giving them a thought after my visit for sure," Carter said. "It was a lot. A lot of pressure and it was a hard decision."

The decision came in early November, when Carter reaffirmed his commitment to Auburn via social media.

Head coach Hugh Freeze was an immense influence on his final decision, especially the authenticity displayed by the first year Auburn coach in conversation.

"Me and him, the couple times we’ve spoken in person, it was just so natural," Carter said. "I definitely trust him and the program he’s building."

That trust extends to offensive line coach Jake Thornton.

"He’s definitely proven himself with everything he’s done so far and I love how he coaches," Carter said.

Freshman Connor Lew is a testament to Thornton, as Lew's stepped into the starting center role with the injury of Avery Jones. Lew earned SEC Freshman of the Week a couple weeks back, which serves as a motivating factor for Carter.

"It just makes me feel motivated, makes me feel like I can do that too," Carter said. "I remember coming in and the coaches talking very positively about him. He got his spot and he’s doing really good. It’s just kinda motivating me going in."

Carter will make his first trip since July to Auburn next week, for the Tigers' game against Alabama in the Iron Bowl. It will be his first Auburn game day experience,

"I’m super pumped for it," Carter said. "I’m just really excited to see them in action in person."

You can tell he’s used to being stronger than everyone when it come to HS football but now he’s going against other 4/5 stars so you can’t just stop like he did because he almost broke his back (he still won the rep though)
