Who Will/Won't Qualify

In addition to having a great class, it looks like Tubs again place a lot of emphasis on academics. At thie time it looks like only two will not qualify:

--Raven Gray. It's been known for awhile he would have to go the JUCO route.

--Bo Harris. He will go to Milford Prep and enroll at Auburn in Jan. '07

The only others who have yet not qualified for one reason or another but are expected to are:

--Alex Rose. Waiting on his ACT score. Not expected to be a problem.

--Zachery. Same as Rose

--Greg Smith. Has to finish one more class. Will enroll in Fall.

--Chris Salughter. Still must complete some more work.

It was my understanding that AU could actually sign 20 players this year when it was all said and done. If non qualifiers stand at 2 what happens if the on the fence guys get qualified and there are 23 qualified players? Do we do the gray shirt thing?

My understandintg is that we can sign 25 per year as long as we don't go over 85 total. I don't know what our exact total is right now but there iwll be some attrition. For example, Tommy West is leaving to be closer to home. His Mother's home was damaged by Katrina and he wants to be closer to her. There will a few other casualties among the current players.

Didn't we hold some scholarships from last season to use on this year? I remember Tuberville mentioning that.

Nope, didn't happen. As you say, the education beauracracy in Ohio didn't get the paperwork thru the system .Too many OSU fans in the loop I guess he will start in the Fall.

I'm no expert but i think with JUCO you end up with 3 years elgibility and with prep it's 4. Don't hold me to that.
