What they're saying about us

Sunday, July 02, 2006

In the New York Times, a World Cup soccer column on America's universities and their success at building character and community, said to be a contrast to the "state-dominated and uncompetitive" European system: "With their football teams they bind communities and break down social distinctions (people in Alabama are fiercely loyal to the Crimson Tide, even though most have not actually attended the university)."

Could have substituted the following words for attended:

walked by, driven past, stepped foot on, spell, went to a game at, etc.

Given their past history, I was half way thinking the NYT's had given away our game plan for the WSU game! :big:

They could have also substituted the phrase, "found Tuscaloosa on a map."
