USF quarterback and 2006 Big East rookie of the year Matt Grothe faces a misdemeanor charge of selling alcohol to an underage patron while working at a sports bar, according to a St. Petersburg Times report.

The report speculates that the redshirt freshman's arrest is not expected to bring significant disciplinary action from head coach Jim Leavitt. The incident probably won't draw much more than community service and probation from the legal system.

According to the incident report, Grothe was behind the bar on April 19 and served two beers to an 18-year-old who was working with officers from Florida's Division of Alcohol Beverages and Tobacco. His employment at the bar, however, is not an NCAA violation, and state law allows for anyone over the age of 18 to legally serve alcohol in a licensed establishment.

Grothe has been given a notice to appear in court next month.
