Monday's links: Draft blues

Nobody was really expecting former Crimson Tide players to set the world on fire in this weekend's NFL draft, but most people expected some former Alabama player to be taken somewhere.

DJ Hall made a lot of catches for the Crimson Tide, but hasn't yet caught on with NFL teams.

Instead, no Tide player was drafted for the first time since 1970, as Paul Gattis of The Huntsville Times reports.

Just because the players weren't drafted, doesn't mean they won't play in the NFL. Wallace Gilberry has agreed to a free agent deal with the New York Giants, Simeon Castille and Justin Britt signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, and Matt Caddell reached a deal with the St. Louis Rams.

Gentry Estes of the Press-Register in Mobile has more reaction from Gilberry, Britt and Caddell on their free agent signings and the fact that no Alabama player was among the 252 names called in this weekend's draft.

The highest profile Tide player still seeking a home in the NFL is DJ Hall, who has been contacted by several teams, but has not yet reached an agreement with any of them.
