AUSportTalk 4 Posted June 29, 2010 Share Posted June 29, 2010 Hunter Morris and Brian Fletcher were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Region First Team while Trent Mummey was named to the Second Team, the ABCA announced on Tuesday. Morris hit a team-best .386 with a team-high and school record 23 home runs, 18 doubles, five triples and 76 RBI, scoring 66 runs. A fourth-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers who has already signed, the junior was named the 2010 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and a First Team All-American by Baseball America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Rivals.com and Ping!Baseball.com and a Second Team All-American by Louisville Slugger. Fletcher joined Morris in forming one of the best three-four hitter combos in the Southeastern Conference as he finished the year with a .357 batting average and was second only to Morris on the team in doubles (17), home runs (22), RBI (75) and runs scored (62). A First Team All-SEC outfielder, he has also been named a Second Team All-American by the NCBWA. He was drafted in the 18th round by the Kansas City Royals but the junior has not signed a contract yet. Mummey, who missed half of the season due to injury, finished the year with a .366 batting average, second only to Morris, and also had 15 doubles, 17 home runs and 54 RBI, all of which were behind just Morris and Fletcher. A fourth round pick of the Baltimore Orioles that has already signed, the junior was named to the All-SEC First Team and the SEC’s All Defensive Team.
