LSU injury updates: LB K’Lavon Chaisson (ACL) out for season, RT Adrian Magee (knee) sidelined

LSU edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson, who left Sunday night's 33-17 victory over Miami in Arlington, Texas, with a knee injury, is out for the season with a torn ACL, coach Ed Orgeron told reporters Tuesday ( via nola.com ).

Meanwhile, right tackle Adrian Magee will be sidelined for a few weeks with a knee injury that also knocked him from Sunday's game.

Chaisson appeared to injure his left knee in the fourth quarter without much contact from another player.

After trainers tended to Chaisson in Miami's end zone, a cart was brought out, but he eventually walked off the field on his own but with a noticeable limp. He was seen on the sideline with his knee being iced as he sat on the trainer's table.

The nation's No. 37 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class ( per 247Sports' composite rankings ), Chaisson appeared in 12 games as a true freshman. He made only his fourth career start Sunday, but, according to nola.com , "Chaisson has been much talked about by his teammates this fall, and some have even said he'll break (former LSU linebacker) Arden Key's single-season sack record (12)."

Redshirt sophomore Andre Anthony is Chaisson's top backup. Academic issues kept Anthony off the field in 2016 and a foot injury sidelined him in 2017.

Magee, injured as defenders converged on LSU quarterback Joe Burrow in the opening quarter at AT&T Stadium, was carted to the locker room but returned to the sideline in the second half wearing a knee brace but not needing crutches. The junior had made his second career start.

My brain may be thinking of something else but thought I’d throw this out to see if anyone remembers from last year at LSU, but wasn’t there something they did, relative to the heat, that we were upset about? Was our bench in the sun? Or did it have to do with air coolers or mist on the sidelines? If I am old and “misremembering”, sorry. Just wondering if any payback is in order since it will be hot.?
