The questions I’d like answered.

Seriously?  You are going to assume that Coach Caddy thinks this is a great hire and Freeze is an honorable guy because he has not quit or looked for another job in a whole 5 hours?

All that means is that his contract is not terminated. Maybe he stays maybe he doesn’t but I have not heard any glowing endorsement from Caddy. You?  I’m sure he has a very strong loyalty to the kids on the team. For the OP to liken that to any type of endorsement of Freeze’s prior behavior is absurd.

Yeah, butthead, that’s EXACTLY what I was saying.

Then you must know him personally as I have not seen any public comments from Caddy. You?  If I missed them please let me know.

Just like you know Hugh personally, right? I mean you are judging him so you must know him.

why don’t we all agree to just support the kids? I have two children that go to Auburn currently. They are friends with some of these players. I’m not about to give up on them.

We don’t want to be hypocrites, so we have got to question everyone’s morals and character who support Freeze, don’t we?

For me, I only question the character of those who claim that character doesn't matter, only winning matters.  That is the reflection of a highly corrupted value system.

Yeah you are going to need to point that out. In your OP you said that Caddy ‘obviously’ supports the hire. I just want to know how you know this. I’m not very bright so be specific.

Nobody - not a soul - is endorsing “Freeze’s prior behavior”. And you know that. There is a concept called forgiveness. If you don’t believe in it, you don’t believe in it. But it’s an option.

I don’t know Freeze from Adam, but I know he is 54 years old and persists with horrible judgment. I completely support the athletes and that is why I am concerned about putting someone with such poor judgment in charge of young athletes (many of who need someone with GOOD judgment).

Read that sentence again. “If he stays and it looks like he will”. I never said he has already come out praising Freeze or that he was 100% staying yet. Don’t make it more complicated than you should.

I forgive him for everything. Putting him in charge of young athletes is an entirely different story. There is a difference.

I ask this sincerely, with no snark or sarcasm intended.  The concept of forgiveness can exist in Auburn fans who do not want Freeze to be coach, correct?  I can forgive him for his missteps in the past (though he does not need my forgiveness, nor do I need his for mistakes in my past) and still not want him representing Auburn University, correct?

Now to the part of my post that will be the most polarizing, and I'm more than willing to hear the pushback on it.  The hiring of Freeze forever kills Dye's quote that "Auburn fans love Auburn.  Alabama fans love Alabama football." Wins and losses on the football field matter more than the University's reputation and public image.  And, the ironic thing is, there's no proof the risk of needing a handler for the leader of the football program is going to be worth the return on investment.  For all our sakes, I hope he does better than his 62% win percentage the next 36 football games.  If he doesn't, I hope Chris Roberts and John Cohen are sent along with him far away from the Plains.

Yes. IF he stays. If he thinks Freeze is scum and Freeze doesn’t align with his values, how could Carnell possibly stay? I doubt he needs the money and he could get a job just about anywhere working for a better person. Would you work for someone you felt that way about?

I’ve worked for people that I thought were bad people until I found a suitable alternative. I have a family to think about. Big time college coaching is a small community and I don’t think Caddy is going to say anything negative about Freeze. I believe he is very loyal to Auburn and the players. If he does not make any sort of comment in the coming days I think that will be telling.

Sorry, this is not directed at you I am just tired of it all. AU people need to quit being judge, jury, and executioner. I am sick of the holier than thou crowd. So many people like to quote Jesus but they don’t act like him or do what he says. It is infuriating that people cast so many stones.
I have also heard too many people talk about giving up on Auburn and giving up on OTV, etc. All they are doing is hurting the kids and other coaches that love and want to play for Auburn, not the coach who is going to make his money regardless.
You never known- maybe this is part of a true redemption story.  Or maybe he crashes and burns. I have no idea. But I will support him at this moment.

And more than that I support all coaches and the kids.

Quick question for the Anti-Freezers

Does any of this make you feel better about yourself? Why are you CHOOSING to be miserable and trying to force that same misery upon others who are CHOOSING not to be miserable....

Life is to live, learn, and love....

Some of yall need to learn to love and you live a happier life.

Why? What - specifically - do you think he’s going to do to them? How will he corrupt them? Specifically. Is he gonna hook them up with his escort service? Some of y’all just say stuff. He is 0 danger to the players or to any women on campus.

If Cadillac stays it’s an endorsement. Caddy is already a millionaire who’s set for life. He could coach just about anywhere after his interim stint. He isn’t staying at Auburn because he’s out of options or needs the money. Again. Just saying stuff.

Yeah that is the great thing about the internet. I can look up his age on the internet (54) and say to myself ‘how in the hell does someone this age have such poor judgment?’

He isn’t my first choice either. But it’s him. So I’m backing him.

This “win at all cost” thing is a myth. We aren’t bringing in someone with an active, unapologetic, unmitigated “cost” (ongoing addiction, abuse, etc). He is a man who messed up his life several years ago.

The only reason a fan wouldn’t at least give him a chance from this point on would be unforgiveness or a fear he’ll relapse.

And we are naive if we think we are recruiting a bunch of choir boys that Freeze is going to corrupt. Some of these young men we recruit have probably done things that would make Freeze blush. But Freeze and those young men can say regardless of the circumstances we’ve come from, here we are at Auburn. Auburn can make us better and we can make Auburn better.
