Congrats to LaSalle!

Marshall Henderson is done for a while, and I won't miss him.

Hoke tweeted Henderson gave the "double bird" salute to the fans in Kansas City. Intensity is one thing. This guy is something else. Won't miss seeing him for a year.

Well...should be interesting to see Florida playing Florida Gulf Coast in the next round. A chance for FGC to spoil some more brackets.

I think it could be an interesting game. I didn't know that FGCU beat Miami early in the season. This team can play and Florida is crazy if they don't prepare for a competative game.

They seem to have found their mojo for the tourney. Beat Miami early but lost a bunch of games in their conference and to some fair Div 1 teams along they way. They have more size and speed than the typical mid-major team and could make it interesting ....though it's also about time for them to be blown out by 20.....which has happened to them a few times this year. This year's "George Mason"?

Yeah, I don't believe just yet. What they did in the georgetown game was pretty huge. I see them hitting the wall this game and losing. I just think UF should be ready for a fight though. With their confidence and athleticism, they are absolutley in a game if it is close late. I think UF could get to an early lead and just manage the game. But I have been wrong many times this year. Well, they won't surprise UF after their two wins in the tourney. I can see how they would sneak up on G'town but that's gone now. Otherwise, as I expected, the top seeds have mostly made it to the Sweet 16 and the pretenders are gone. Despite all the upsets, the basic favorites are still in the game. Can't wait until Thursday :bananadance: . Meanwhile.. War Eagle for the Lady Tigers and their good win yesterday.

Ohio State getting screwed by the officiating. Can't blame it all on that, though. Wichita State playing very well and Ohio State is struggling with the WS defense.

Ohio State ignited too late. Ran out of time. Wichita State will lose to the Duke/Louisville winner.

Wichita State and UL was a such a good game. Didn't like how it was called at the end but it was a fun game. Greg Marshall is such a good coach. He had the right plays at the right time. Impressive start to the Final Four. Can't decide which team I like less in the 2nd game. Probably Syracuse. I was at that 1988 Sugar Bow and I still don't like them much.

Marshall went to WS from Winthrop in South Carolina.... I think Winthrop has been on AU's schedule a number of times. As for the game, IMO the officiating favored Louisville....and as for that last "held ball" ....that call must have set a new tourney record for quick whistle.

I thought that the officiating leaned toward Louisville in the second half. Especially when they went to the full court press. There were many fouls away from the ball that could have been called. The held ball call was ridiculous. No way that was a held ball. It was a foul if anything.

My wrap-up analysis of the game is that the new defensive oriented teams are operating on the premise that the officials can only call one foul at any given time and since the officials are usually watching the ball and the lane, fouls (holding, grabbing, blocking, etc.) away from those two areas typically go unpunished. Plus if you ratchet up the amount of contact all over the floor, what was a sure foul a few years ago is now just considered as the normal level of contact for the game. The game is moving toward what used to be a joke...;no blood , no foul ....but IMO, that now seems to be the accepted standard. If the Louisville-WS game last night had been played on a football field, both defenses would have racked up more than 100 yards of penalties for holding, pass interference and illegal contact.

On the other hand, the offenses have responded as might be expected. I would not have been surprised to have seen one of the point guards call out Malzahn's famous "buck sweep" play and then follow the H back and pulling guard (otherwise known as off-guard and power forward) down the lane toward the goal for a layup as his two escorts moved defenders out of the lane....trusting he could avoid the linebacker-coming along the baseline to block the shot. Meanwhile, I think the next innovation in basketball attire will be some type of small helmet...kind of like the transition we have seen in baseball and hockey over the years. Football in short pants....arriving soon at Auburn Arena. JMO
