Texan4Auburn...if I'm one of the ones confusing you. let me be more clear. I was not complaining about the air strikes, just whether Obama had followed the law.

Politicians...laws? What... they have laws?

Thats a fair question to ask then. It just gets lost in the many many posts about not taking action, but then taking action and getting questioned. One of those cognitive things that just hits you. Plus I kinda got wrapped up in bikini wearing, pole-dancing, binge drinking, fast driving American Muslims to be honest.

The bombings themselves are fine. I still have no idea what they have in mind beyond this. If they plan on arming these syrian "moderates" that I seriously doubt exist, then we are going after folly. I just don't have any faith in this administration to handle this properly. They can't decide how to word it for trying to please everyone. What are they going to do when things don't go as they expect them to?

I'm confused as to what the problem is here. Help me sift this out.

-- Do you think that the decision to go after ISIL in Syria is the right call?

-- What protocol do you think he violated in authorizing this action (if any)?

-- Is the main problem that you think he should have done something to ISIS/ISIL sooner? How would that have been received given that attacking ISIL by default assists Assad?

-- Does anyone feel we had the realistic option to not get involved?

What am I missing here?

As AUUSN would call it, ODS is what you are missing Titan.

What is ODS?

Obama Derangement Syndrome

Yes, I'm sure that's the point.

Good to see him follow part of the War Powers act...still has not established the threat to the US. Sounds like another intevention on behalf of people who make no effort to defend themselves.

No effort to defend themselves, or are unable to defend themselves because they are so vastly outgunned?

Also, do you really believe that ISIL is not an established threat to the US?

The Iraqi Army alone is 10x the size of the ISIS forces. And much better equipped. Being outgunned is not the problem.

Nice to see you post, ertrader. It's seems odd because I'm so used to seeing you lurk.

Ha at the risk of offending everyone on the board I don't really get into the whole red/blue thing, and it seems like that's where a lot of the threads on here end up.

Dichotomous thinking is all the rage here. Jump in. ;)

You shut your face. False dichotomies rule.

True or false, I find myself to be an immense fan of dichotomies.

They're great. The less complex a situation is the better I like it.

All situations are only accurately represented by dichotomies (even hypothetical), agreed?

Apparently it comes naturally with being human. Standard feature so to speak. Even if it's way beyond obsolete.

Sure. No one likes nuance anyway.
