It grows like that naturally. Most folks refer to it as prickly ash, although it’s not in the ash family. The leaves and bark were used as a sort of numbing agent by native Americans and early settlers. It works, trust me.😳

I smell a headline

Roasting up some ancho and guajillo chiles for some “from scratch” chili.

It was delicious. Easily the best chili I’ve ever had/made. Used Binging With Babish’s recipe modeled after the infamous Kevin Malone chili recipe.

Took a trip back down to Cajun country to visit family.  Picked up a few pics along the way.  The highlight was taking the boat down the Bayou Teche. Took it from city park in New Iberia, and rode it to Loreauville. My wife's uncle has a house that backs up to the Teche. Made an impromptu visit :)

Been away from here for a while.  Lots of travel recently.  Catching baseball and soccer when I can.  Twins game, soccer in Nashville, Minneapolis, and Austin.  Plus a day at the brewery above Lake Travis in Austin.

Hiking up one of the ski slopes in Vail.  The type of pine that grows up here smells like vanilla if you get close to it (no joke).

Great American Ballpark view from Newport, KY across the Ohio River.  Maybe one day I'll get pics during a game over there

Started my walk-about this past Sat.  I bought a camper and just driving around the country.  Thanks to 2020 I have realized I can work from anywhere with WiFi.  First stop was Bentonville, AR.  Went kayaking with my cousin and the river was from a big dam that fed the river from water in bottom of lake.  It was 96 out but water was so cold you didn't want to get in. Due to massive difference in temperature the water forms a mist raising off the water. Was very cool.  In the attached pictures you can barely make my cousin's husband and I floating and fishing.

Amazing shots, amazing experience, amazingly beautiful part of the country. A trip on the Buffalo is one of my all-time keeper memories, in spite (and because) of some serious weather-related discomforts and near disaster.

Love the perspective on the old pilings in the first shot. Really cool. Like a modern day version of a scene from Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones.

I haven't been on vacation in about 4 years and every time I did go I would come back to SOOO much waiting on me.  Last year I was in middle of a separation and CV19 so couldn't do much.  Realized as this year started that I could sit anywhere and work as long as I have WiFi.  My kid (20) is my roommate.  We talked and he said he could manage the dogs & house.  So I bought a toy hauler, loaded my clothes & Harley up and hit the road.  I have no destination.  I have no time to be some specific place.  I have no time to be back to my static address.  I am currently in Arkansas because my cousin lived here and thought I would stop in and see her and her family for a bit.  They convinced me to stick around another week longer and I had not reason not to.  So we are going on much long kayaking trip next weekend.  After that, I am not sure where I am going or when I will be there.  But I will post pics of the cool stuff I run into.

I have so much to say but maybe this is one time I need to just shut up and wait. Just know I'm intensely interested in everything you said here.

Where on the coast?  Been doing a lot of driving back and forth across I-10 this year and will likely continue for another.  Looking for a good place to stop and break up the trip.
