But we lost so much from last year...

Florida, Auburn and Tennessee lead with double figure selections

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -– The Florida Gators led all teams with 12 players selected to the 2005 Southeastern Conference Coaches Pre-Season All-SEC Football Team, announced today.

Defending SEC champion Auburn had 11 players selected followed by Tennessee with 10 each Alabama and Georgia with nine each. There were first, second and third-teams selected for this year's coaches pre-season squad.

LSU had eight players selected to the three squads followed by Mississippi State with seven and Ole Miss had six. South Carolina had four players selected while Arkansas and Kentucky had three players each and Vanderbilt had two.

Auburn led all schools with six first-team selections followed by Tennessee with four while Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU had three each. Vanderbilt had two players selected to the first-team while Ole Miss, Mississippi State and South Carolina each had one first-team selection.

Ten of the 12 SEC teams had first-team selections and every conference school has representatives on the All-SEC squad.

Auburn senior offensive tackle Marcus McNeill was the only unanimous choice for first-team pre-season All-SEC by the league's coaches. Since coaches cannot vote for their own players, the Decatur, Ga. native, was listed on 11 of the 12 ballots.

Cutler 1st team? What?

Yeah, that one threw me, too. I would take either of those other two over him.

I thought we were going 7-4 with all the talent we lost last year

Shame on you Nay sayers....Shame on you..... :big:

Not being biased...but shouldnt we have 12 on there? Where is T.J. Jackson? He made the "Outstanding defensive player of the year" nominee list...and is some magazines hes listed as a ALL-SEC player....wonder why he didnt make the cut.

Cutler is a good QB on a very bad team.

But people use the Vandy excuse too much with him. He has had some great games but also has had some terrible games. Terrible in that HE screwed up.

I think people assume he would be great on a better team when I am not so sure

Man, are we gonna suck this year.

Hey, that's what all the sportswriters and pre-season polls would have us think. Just calling it like THEY see it.

Good grief, these AU guys were picked by OPPOSING COACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CTT couldn't even vote for them!

I neither assume we will be awesome nor do I automatically assume someone else will suck, because stranger things have happened, but DANG! You would think we are the only school to ever lose big time players. Since when is Auburn the football equivalent of a one hit wonder? <_<

here's another sign of disrespect - go to the

ESPN.com version of story.

Okay, someone please ‘splain to me why the headline says “LSU lands 3” when the bigger story is either than AUBURN had more first team picks than any other school, and Florida has more players picked than anyone else?????????

Two things "jumped out" at me on these picks. Tre Smith listed as a All SEC kick returner and he played VERY little in '04. (Guess the SEC Coaches know more about talent than some of the homer so-called "sports writers".) And, AU has the All SEC kicker and punter. You just can't over estimate the importance of a solid kicking game. With the addition of Zach Kutch handling the kick off duties, we are VERY soilid on Special teams. Can't wait for the FIRST game.

WAR EAGLE! :au: ONE at a time.

Hurry NIP Hurry! :D

1) Norwood as a First Team RB??????? OKay, I dont coach.

2) Florida is freakin loaded with talent!!!!!

3) We dont have a QB or RB in the mix, that is to be expected. I bet we are better than many tho. I would not trade Irons or Smith for Norwood.

4) Kicking Game may win a game a or two for us this year. This is where I see :ua: and :au: differing. We look a lot alike, great D, very good WRs, main question is worry at QB. BUT, :au: has likely the best Kicking Game in the SEC. That will make a difference somewhere on the schedule.

5) Florida is freakin loaded with talent!!!!!

6) :ut: has a lot of talent listed too.

7) Florida is freakin loaded with talent!!!!!

In case you missed it, Florida is freakin loaded with talent!!!!! Maybe they can do something special with UM @ C.
