Softball vs Mississippi State Series

First pitch in about 10 minutes. Penta is on the mound to start the series and Peralta and Packer are back in the starting lineup. Glad they were able to get a rest to recover from their injuries. Smart scheduling to have a week and a half with no SEC opponents. Packer is in the DP spot, though, so maybe not 100% recovered from her injury. Interesting to see Godwin in CF and not Schmidt.

Edit: Second look at the lineup defensively and it's strange. Blaine at 3rd, McCondichie at SS, Cox at 2B, Peralta in RF. Seems like a lot of new positions for players. Cox played 1 or 2 games at 2B but had a couple misplays this season. Can't remember McCondichie, Blaine, or Peralta playing these positions.

Defensive positions are completely different on statbroadcast and during the lineup rundown by Auburn broadcast. I think the one on Statbroadcast is correct and it's our normal defensive lineup with Peralta at SS, Cox at 3B, McCondichie at 2B, Packer in CF, Garcia in LF, and Blaine in RF.

Another 0-2 count and Packer gets hit again by a pitch. Really hope her injury wasn't an elbow one cause that's the 2nd one that's hit her on the elbow.

Godwin attempts a bunt and it's a pop out to the catcher.

McCondichie with a grounder to 3rd and her and Packer's speed is too much. Both are safe!

Garcia gets into ANOTHER 0-2 count and then pops up on the 3rd pitch.

Schmidt up to bat to try to get some runs. 1-2 count ... great work by Schmidt to draw a full count walk~ BASES LOADED for Peralta!

Error on Cox at 3rd and State has the lead off hitter on first.

Pop up to 3rd for out 1.

Biggest difference is State pitcher is getting ahead early on batters while Penta keeps throwing balls.

Only listening to Auburn broadcast so I can't give much more than what is being said. Think the umps are looking at obstruction but that's a weird thing to look at for a rundown ...

Yep, Umps call obstruction for a rundown. Weird call and broadcast team definitely doesn't agree with it. Edit: Play in question below. Godwin gets the ball before the runner is there. But Godwin has to know not to even be close to blocking the plate, I guess.

The obstruction call can be as much BS as the targeting rule in football. It was a run down so what are the defense players to do. Besides the AU catcher had the ball in glove before the runner got to her.
