Alabama State Representative David Cole Admits He never lived in the District he's Elected to Represent. Some In AL GOP Ready to Introduce New Law To prevent Cole from Being Removed for Election Fraud.

This will be an interesting litmus test for just how important election integrity actually is to Republicans, or if it's only a talking point they use to campaign against democrats.

Either way 90% of the Alabama GOP electorate wont care and will continue to vote the same Republicans into office, but it'll still be interesting to watch for all the rest of us.

In a deposition in his election challenge, David Cole couldn’t recall spending a single night or eating a meal at his residence of record.

Rep. David Cole admitted under oath during a deposition that he couldn’t recall spending a single night in a home he claimed on his official filing papers was his permanent residence in the district he was elected to represent, according to a filing in his ongoing election challenge.

Cole, elected to represent House District 10, also admitted that he never moved any furniture or belongings from his other residence in District 4; that his family members, including his wife, continued to reside in the District 4 home; that he couldn’t recall eating a single meal at the new residence; and that he has continued to own his District 4 home and pay the property taxes.

Those revelations were part of a motion to compel filed by former Libertarian candidate Elijah Boyd, who filed the challenge to Cole’s election due to residency issues. The motion asks a Madison County Circuit Court judge to force Cole to provide a copy of the deposition to Boyd.

It’s unclear which way Republican lawmakers are leaning. Privately, several ALGOP lawmakers have expressed frustration over the Cole situation, saying the circumstances put them in an awkward position after two years of making “election integrity” a focus of the party.

“How can we talk about election integrity and all that stuff and then let a guy who seems to have falsified his address stay in office?” asked one GOP lawmaker, who asked to remain anonymous in order to speak candidly about the matter. “You could go to jail for faking an address if you’re a voter.”

On the other hand, some Republicans in the Legislature appeared ready to help Cole this session by way of legislation. In a “catch-all” bill supposedly about building a new Statehouse, a provision inserted near the end would have revamped the election challenge process and allowed Cole to skate. The author of that bill, Rep. Chris Pringle, argued that there should be no challenges after a candidate is officially seated.

Kick the liar out of office.

This is not a Republican only issue. The Democrats knew Fetterman was not up to the job but hid it because winning was more important then honesty. This is easy as far as I am concerned. Cole should be removed he committed Fraud. It is simple.  For over a year the Democrats have known Feinstein was no longer there but as long as she could vote for Judicial nominations they didn't care. Only when she was to sick to be able to vote which meant they couldn't steam roll candidates who couldn't even answer simple constitutional questions did they start calling for her resignation.

The Republicans have the representative from New York who is a sleaze ball and I am being kind saying that and yet they haven't called for his ouster or resignation.

Both Parties are guilty of looking the other way as long as it helps their Party. It is a sad indictment of both Parties. When Trump was President many Democratic leaders begged for him to do a cognitive test which he did and passed but those same leaders are not asking for the same for Biden. Republicans fought against the cognitive test for Trump but want it for Biden another example of hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle.

What is sad is most of the Posters on this board whether leaning Left or leaning Right would want both Parties to self police in these type of scenarios.

Getting back to Cole. Oust him he cheated and got caught. Have a special elections as soon as possible and let the people pick a new Representative.

Fetterman is actively in the senate doing the job he was elected to do. Are you saying Democrats should have kicked him out of the party for having a stroke/depression?

I don't know that they "hid" anything.....Fettermans health problems were well documented and covered in media before the election and he still won. I don't see how that is a negative mark against Democrats.

I don't see that as anything even close to comparable to allowing fraudsters and cheaters actively in your political ranks.

I will give you Feinstein though. Democratic leadership is 100% wrong for giving her any committee assignments or important rolls in congress. She should have retired years ago and is not doing her constituents or the country any favors by being wheeled around in a barely conscious state pretending like she knows what's going on around her. Democratic leaders are wrong to keep coddling and protecting her.

When was the one and only debate for the Senate seat from Pennsylvania?  October 25th, two weeks before Election Day and 4 weeks after early voting and mail-in ballots went out.  Fetterman’s health problems were known, but it would be a stretch to say they were well documented.

The Dems knew he had a stoke before the Dem primaries, they just wanted to HIDE it because they, evidently, didn’t like the next candidate on the list.

Fetterman suffered a stroke Friday, injecting uncertainty into the Democratic primary race that for weeks had been shaping up as a runaway. He said he is on his way to a “full recovery” but will remain in the hospital for a while.

Fetterman, a former mayor of Braddock, is a progressive who has vowed to be a reliable vote for organized labor and liberal causes in Washington. Democrats see the seat being vacated by retiring Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey as among their best pickup opportunities in the country.
