How much did we pay to finish high on this list?  LOL

FIRE tries their level best. Yes that does mean they’re often defending conservative speech but that’s usually because liberal viewpoints do dominate campuses and practically always have.

No doubt.  My comment was more in regard to lists in general.  I find them to be useless in a practical sense.  That includes all sorts of rankings systems.  Schools get very skilled at manipulating the data.  I was on a university committee (not at Auburn) a few years ago that had a stated purpose of ensuring accurate data was reported by the university.  They had been busted for submitting bad data the year before.  My first comment was "just don't lie."  The response was that everyone lies to an extent so we needed to be more skillful in our approach.  SMDH

Just to be clear, Fire.org is a right wing organization that funds/encourages right wing speech. Not freedom of speech. Only right wing speech.

And just to be clear, you are dead wrong. And just to be clear, I totally understand why Auburn is #2 on their list of  right wing speech after the most recent mass christianistic spectacle we've seen on any university campus in many years. Just totally off in the extreme wings. Fire.org really gobbled that up.

Being arrogant, close minded and cocksure on the left doesn't make you much different than those that are arrogant, close minded and cocksure on the right. Just makes you more of a hypocrite.

I'm very familiar with this group. I found these cases right away on the website. There's numerous more, but I'm not going to waste too much of my time on someone so hardheaded...and wrong. You've probably seen the first one. Guess who was on her side?

Thumbs down! That’s right, @AURex. Stay stubborn. Learn nothing. Why be curious at this phase in your life when being purely judgmental has gotten you this far in a field that has devolved into mostly feigning open mindedness?

Auburn finishes #2 in in the nation according to student surveys.

Not sure exactly how they calculate these, but as with most such "ratings," not sure I put a ton of stock into them. Some schools listed don't really have their principles tested as much as others and I can't see how Texas A&M is 7th when they had this HUGE case that even FIRE joined in:

The survey cutoff was June 30th of this past summer so it makes sense that atm’s little kerfluffle there wouldn’t be included in this year’s ranking.

I did notice Auburn has a scholar sanction on there. There was the Jesse Goldberg one that FIRE came at Auburn on a few years back but IIRC Auburn retained that one in a non teaching roll. Wonder which other one it could be referring to.

This is also nonsense. There are myriad examples of the FIRE defending left wing viewpoints out there.

A few examples flead from a wiki.
