Well, what do you expect? Republicans forgot why they were elected to Congress. That and their unholy alliance with the far right religious nutjobs, the runaway spending, the scandals, and an apparently incoherent strategy in Iraq all spelled doom in the polls.

However, the Democrats really shouldn't rejoice too much. Given this incompetent administration and the horror show perpertrated on us by this Congress, they should have won 50+ seats. If they had any sense whatsoever, they would ask the question, "Why do so many people see us as an unpalatable alternative?"
