Am I the only one who thinks Fantasia whines through all of her songs?? Wow, i can barely listen to her when she comes on anymore. I'm not a big fan of Diana either but she is by far easier on the ears!

I don't think any two finalists can hold a candle to Kelly or Clay (sorry Ruben but you're career has stunk compared to clays so far, i still don't know how he won)...so I don't really care which one wins cause I dont think their career will go very far.

Also, a little side note, but I saw in the USA Today that one negative thing going for Fantasia might actually be her kid, and when i think about it, they might be right...I mean, should a 19 year old single mother be an American IDOL? Interesting question to ponder...

Of course, another way to look at it is that she's a 19-year old that didn't seek to run from her mistakes by aborting the child. She chose to be a mother and do the best she could and is still reaching for her dreams instead of just lazily sitting around cashing a welfare check acting like the world owes her something. That's pretty admirable.

I have pondered over that for some time now...

I have never been a big Fantasia fan, and how old was she when she had the child? and she is not married on top of that!

Very interesting to see what happens....

I think that Fantasia yells through her songs too, I also thinks she puts way to much stuff in the songs that should not be there. When I think about it it would be difficult to hear the judges just be outright for Fantasia, and she did bomb on her first song. I think she forgot the words in the beginning, but also Dianna did not do good on her third. I would much rather see Dianna win, I don't know I have never liked Fantasia, I can't put my finger on it I just don't like her.

But on another note the girl from last year was kicked b/c she posed for some kind of website to help pay her wasy through college. In a way its different but in a way its not.

Well Fantasia won... congratulations Fantasia. I hope Diana continues to make an impact in the music industry. I hope she is as big as Clay was (as in relation to the runner up and the winner)

I don't really think getting pregnant and posing for porn are exactly the same kind of thing and I don't think most people see it that way either. But then again, depending on the details of the situation, I probably wouldn't have kicked Frenchie off for that either.

I just think that porn is perceived as more unseemly or seedy than someone having had sex and happened to have gotten pregnant.

would you like your child idolizing someone who had sex, became pregnant,and had a child out of wedlock? The people on shows like this should be role models and i dont think either represent what i would believe to be a good role model.

I don't think these people should have to be perfect, but I can see a difference in getting pregnant, yet choosing to live up to your responsibilities and raise your child in a loving home versus doing porn for money.

Fantasia is just trashy looking - she has a good voice but she is not any different to me than any other singers of her genre out there. I will, however, say that I LOVED her "Summertime" performance on "Movie Theme Song" night.

Since I have already been accused of being hypocritical, let me try and make that better by giving Fantasia her props. I still stand by my original statement - during the auditions and at the beginning of the competition, she did look VERY trashy. But when she began to see that she really stood a very very good chance of winning, she cleaned up her act - the nose stud got smaller, her attire got more conservative (still sexy, but in a decent way) and she just classed up from head to toe. Her performance of "I Believe" in the finals was unreal good. She deserved to win and I am happy for her.

As for her being a single mother, while I agree with tigger somewhat, about her being a role model, I think that has nothing to do with anything these days. Half of Hollywood is a single mom, and that doesn't seem to be a big deal to anyone except a few of us. She also had the kid before she made American Idol, so she is not "in your face" pregnant after the fact. Fantasia is not, or does not appear to be, at least, a dopehead or a burden on society - she was a working single mom, who even attends church. Yes, she had help from her family in raising that child, but she contributed. Now she has a chance to make a good life for her kid due to her God-given talent, and I say good for her. However, I hope she takes the opportunity to get an education too, and not rely on a gift that may or may not last - that is a fickle business. She still is not different than any other singer out there right now, but that is obviously what America likes, since she won.

And man i hate it when people add vocal runs to the end of the National Athem. Just sing it like it is meant to be sung. Dont ruin it!

I have liked everything she has ever done - UNTIL THE NATIONAL ANTHEM!!!!!!! I totally agree - she couldn't make up her mind as to what key or what tempo she wanted to sing, and THERE ARE NO RIFFS AT THE END OF THE SONG!! The National Anthem is not a song to take artistic license on.

She looked nice tho - very pretty girl. And she is a great songwriter too - "I Believe" is a fabulous song.

SO...

... who is going to buy Fantasia's album? Has anyone ever bought an American Idol album? I bought Clay's for my mom, but that's the only one - she says it's good. How was Ruben's album? Anyone?

Well, I did say that given the particular circumstances of Frenchie's ousting, I probably would not have booted her from the competition over that. BUT generally speaking, I still think getting pregnant, yet taking responsibility by having the child and being a good mother is not on the same level as doing porn...regardless of why she did it. It's not like there weren't other jobs to be had. She just liked the money-to-work ratio that the porn shoot gave her.
