MaitlandTiger 325
I think Sean White has been belly up to what I imagine is an athletics-table of never ending fried chicken, mashed potatoes and cornbread with tubs of butter. Just without the workouts like everyone else since he was injured. Good for him. OR, based on rising to competition with Stidham, all 21 pounds went to his right arm, and he looks like Popeye. In all seriousness, in my experience watching college football religiously for 30 years, I would estimate that somewhere around 90% of the time when a very good team loses a starter to injury and they are forced to trot out the understudy, they fade fast. In fact when a backup continues to win it is so rare that the football world takes notes. If Stidham is starter and he should be based solely on ability (I love SW but you play the best player) there is a very good chance that he will get dinged up. It's a brutal sport . Having White to plug in is going to be great. ITS GOING TO BE A GREATER-THAN -NORMAL YEAR TO BE AN AUBURN TIGER!!
cole256 17,084
If this is legit don't like McClain getting that heavy and I hope the first and second level of the defense are great at run stopping because I'm scared about the safety spots!

I'm not... his legs weren't injured and that's the easiest place to gain. In my experience, it's not uncommon for an injured player to compensate for their injury by working uninjured areas even more.

AUwent 3,763
How good an S&C coach is Russell? Like, we're certainly no longer "soft" ala 2011-12, but given all the injuries over the past three seasons I remain apprehensive.

I don't know if it's an issue with Russell, or a lack of communication between his staff and the medical training staff, but the quantity of injuries is over the top. I think (based on conversations with my wife who has degrees in physical therapy and exercise science) that we are severely lacking in flexibility training. corchjay 5,311
Bell and Ashley are way over weight. Not a huge surprise with an incoming freshman out of playing shape. Most kids coming from high school think they need to add weight but don't realize it's really bad weight that they put on. Bell is disappointing because of his age and being an incoming Senior transfer. I would imagine his ideal playing weight would be around 315. 40 pounds overweight. Whitlow may also need to get down to around 200. But same applies to him that did for Ashley. @bigbird I'm still predicting Whitlow to safety and probably punt returner in the future.
