Lichaj with a terrible touch on a back pass in the third minute. Howard rushes and reads is perfectly, pawing it away from the attacker at the top of the box. Lucky break. Lichaj owes Howard at least his post game meal.

This referee has not been good, and Landon Donovan is justifiably laying into him.

Hedges with a terrible giveaway at midfield give El Salvador another run at goal. Long range shot that Howard had a bead on all the way goes high.

Hedges is not a first team quality player. Neither is Lichaj, in spite of his goal.

Arriola has put in a good shift.

Gyasi has been great in flashes, mundane otherwise.

Jozy has been big and mean and I'm satisfied with his play. Hard to find a rythm when getting abused. They're fouling him like crazy, trying to bait him into doing something dumb. He's actually been on the receiving end of a purple nurple, which this ref, blind as a dingbat all game, did not see. 

Clint has been his usual great self.

Morrow playing well overall, but making some dumb decisions that some coaching can hopefully fix.

Omar has been our best defender and played a good game.

Bradley has been steady as a rock and distributed well.

Nagbe has had a good game for the most part, but had some uncharacteristic giveaways.

Howard has been Howard.

El Salvador cheap shotting like crazy in their frustration now. Jordan Morris subs for Arriola, promptly gets punched on a run in the box. Ref misses it, again.

So we ride it out to the semis, luckily with no injuries given how that game went. Saturday at 9 am against Costa Rica.

Was a below average game

refs were horrendous.  Was definitely beyond his capability.  He simply didn't have the guts to pull a red card a couple times on things he did see ... and according to the commentating "rules guy" used bad technique other times that prevented him from see infractions like the one against lichaj 

hedges was ... yikes!  He had a couple games and might be a while before he is called in again.  Thought gonzo had a pretty decent game actually, particularly in the air.  Morrow did fairly well.  Although Nagbe played fairly well, his partnership with Bradley was not good.  

Thought arriola and zardes both played well.  Altidore did what he could, I'm usually not a fan of his but was ok with this game.  Other than a few moments by deuce, I was not impressed.

it looked like a team not playing together.  Lots of missed passes by almost everyone.  Wonder how the game goes if zardes is allowed his good goal early on.  That was a nice play by multiple people and may have put us on the front foot

Kudos to the US squad keeping their cool enough to not get booked. Of course this ref probably wouldn't have anyways.

Hopefully this ref keeps the game under control, unlike the one we had Wednesday. 

And he seems to be doing that. Lot of ticky tack calls so far.
