Right choice.  If we are first in every category, then we should be awarded national title as well. Just fantastic.

Auburn's Greg Williams repeats as national Coach of the Year

ByMARK MURPHY
AUBURN, Alabama—After his team finished undefeated for a second consecutive season, Auburn’s Greg Williams has been named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s 2020 Coach of the Year the organization announced on Friday.

Williams, who earlier was named SEC Coach of the Year, won the national honor for a second consecutive season. In 2018 Auburn associate head coach Jessica Braswell brought hoe the award.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from my peers,” said Williams, whose team finished 13-0 prior to having its season end prematurely due to the coronavirus scare that ended the season prior to the SEC meet.

Juniors Deanna Green and Taylor St. Jacques along with sophomore McKayla Langmeier combined to win three of the four awards given to the sport's top riders for the 2019-20 season.

Langmeier, who is from East Granby, Conn., was named the NCEA Fences Rider of the Year for the second-consecutive season, going 11-3-0 with two  Most Outstanding Performer awards. She was named a First Team All-American for the second-straight year with 10-2 record vs. nationally-ranked opponents.

Green won the NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Year for the Tigers, finishing her season with an 11-1-1 record. The Ocala, Fla., native finished with three Most Outstanding Performer awards and was named a First Team All-American.

I think we are set for the future!! Only 6 SR’s out of a roster of 32.

The 2019-20 Auburn equestrian team went 13-0 in the shortened season and was named the SEC Champion by the league. The squad was voted No. 1 in all five NCEA categories at the end of the season – Team, Fences, Flat, Horsemanship, Reining.

Auburn had three NCEA Riders of the Year as well as 12 All-America honors. The squad also went 8-for-8 in the SEC, picking up all four Rider of the Year awards as well as at least a share of all four Freshman Rider of the Year awards.

The Tigers had 13 student-athletes placed on either the All-SEC or the SEC All-Freshman team.
