This album is just madness:

Confirmed. Interesting tidbit about the cover art, too. I won't be clicking to learn more about Leng Tch'e.

Edit: Whoops, thought that link might include a preview.

Since the Tuareg guitar band Tinariwen from Mali was launched into the international stratosphere nearly 20 years ago, it's become something of a rite of passage for rock musicians to guest on their albums. This time around, for Elwan (Elephants), their eighth international release, they're joined by Kurt Vile, Mark Lanegan (formerly of Screaming Trees), Alain Johannes (formerly of Queens of the Stone Age) and guitarist Matt Sweeney, who's worked with everyone from Will Oldham to Run The Jewels.

@McLoofus Sturgill just announced some new tour dates for 2017. July 17th at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta...

Edit...looks like some of the dates may be messed up.

Duuude I saw that. Might have to be my summer splurge. Any dates near you? Still can't get over his SNL appearance.

I find myself in need desirous of knowledge that may be available here.

I've learned that the headline group at my Mardi Gras Ball this year is somebody called the Molly Ringwalds.

I gather that they're an '80s cover group with reasonably large repertoire.

Any Good?

All we look for, really, is somebody to provide a competent and danceable beat that cuts through our inevitable alcohol fog.

YES! I've seen them a few times. They are a really good cover band. Lots of 80's covers.

One of the Texas dates is close. The Orange Beach date looks good too. Only about 6 hours away.

Just sent the link to wifey and said "If you don't already have a combo Fathers Day/bday gift picked out..."

Many Thanks. Most of my Ball guests are of my children' generation. I'll pass it on.

For perspective, my age is why I'll probably have little to contribute here. Most of my (fairly extensive) music collection is vinyl (some even 78s) and I doubt that's postable.

Try us. I think you'll be surprised.

Also, Megolfselah is one of the primary contributors to this thread...

Good heavens what a lineup! I might have to check that out.

It's such a great festival. And it's free. And the food... it's like the Quarter turns into a giant tapas bar. We're taking the little one down- her first trip. So excited to take her there.
