Otherwise I'm with aucanuck.....how much does a big campaign like this drain off of the other financial needs of the school? AUHI keeps saying we are a "football factory".....and something like this proposal is just another validation of his POV. So we continue to pamper a couple hundred 18-21 year old students...probably at the expense of about 25,000 other students. And we do this for the prima donnas, some/many of whom will turn us down or later decamp if they don't get their dreams to come true. UGH.... At least the NFL is honest about the fact that it's "all about the money". Don't think this drains from the academic side. logan adams 333
This subject agitates me more than any other when it comes to our athletics. Unfortunately, I care way more about football than any of our other programs. Our stadium is falling so far behind in the arms race of the SEC.... FoundationEagle 637
FYI for those complaining about timeline... On th books is a widening of the concourse at Jordan Hare for this offseason. Not sure the extent of the project, but there will be improvements being made on the stadium this year.

That's nothing close to what was expected or originally planned. The only reason this passed was because JJ did not have to raise funds for it. AU64 10,122
As someone noted in another thread, this may not be the best time to be in Auburn basketball or football fan but it sure is the best time to be an athlete. These guys are pampered beyond belief as noted by the new game room on another post. Athletic department is spending a fortune on these guys aside from offering them a chance for a quality education. Only thing Jay could get done without the BOT's approval. Was a safety issue. And has nothing to do with "upgrades" or "improvements". And will be a waste of money when the real expansion happens. But hey, carry on.

But hey, carry on. That's actually not true, WDE. The "widening of the concourse" is actually installing the support structure necessary for the additions to the end zone. This is actually a classic example of selling part of the project as something else in order to get started on the larger project.

All the money AU has needs to be allocated to knocking down the nightmare hellhole that is named Parker, and replacing it with a building that isn't the Ted Bundy equivalent of GPA murdering. I leader with limited backing, and questionable qualifications, trying to get something done with very little support from those around him or backing from his constituents. I do wish the money people would analyze Jay's proposals for the value of the idea and not who it came from. If nothing else, the board could just require him to hire an outside project manager. In the long run it would be cheaper than all of this BS.
