Jax State QB

^Especially not to Carl, Monty, Jovon, etc. All who decided to come back this year. The frustrating thing is, personnel-wise, this is the type of year where we SHOULD be pretty good. This is also why scheduling big OOC games is a bad idea. We almost never do well on years when we have them--at least, the type that are "big enough" for a lot of fans on here. As far as I know, we don't have anyone big scheduled for 2018, and I hope to God we keep it that way!

I agree. Its so frustrating that we should be good this year but already lost all those darn games. Wait...

Now that yet another player with a history of domestic violence has been kicked off a team for attacking his girlfriend (FSU, for those not keeping score), I'm doubling down on my belief that, if we want this kid, it better be proven beyond any doubt that he isn't a threat to women before we take him.

Totally with you on that. It was already the right approach, but each time something like that comes up in the news, it becomes more and more the only intelligent approach.

It's similar to the Jonathan Taylor thing, whether or not we ever actually recruited him. If we had taken him pre-Ray Rice, it would have been bad. If we had taken him after, it would have been stupid.

Even the pros are facing backlash from being involved with players with a history of domestic violence. I live in Kansas City and the Chiefs signed a guy who beat up his pregnant girlfriend. There was, rightfully so, a huge backlash from the community within minutes of the announcement.

He didn't beat up his girl friend, he didn't rape multiple women like a certain FSU QB.

Will you people please give it a break!

Do you actually know what happened? If so, I'd love for you to share the facts of the case. I haven't seen anything factual posted or published outside of the charge being third degree domestic violence, and him being under court order to receive counseling and cease contact with the girl.

The girl is his child's mother, how is he suppose to cease contact?

Like 24 said, he didn't beat up any girls. It was a verbal altercation that was made more then it actually was due to him having the status he had. My sister would have never been friends with the guy if he had actually hit any women.

I'm not sure, and I misstated the order. The order is to either receive counseling with or separate from the girl.

And if that is proven to be what it was, without a shadow of a doubt, then the burden is met and there is no issue. Still I'm with Barnacle that it seems like he's having to go through a lot because of a verbal altercation. I guarantee the judge doesn't levy punishments based on ones status as a D2 quarterback... at least not if he wants to maintain his job.

Maybe he didn't. The point being made was that he should be an automatic no take if he did hit the girl. If he didn't, then I'm sure the coaches will make the best decision with the information that they have. I don't think anyone here has accused Eli Jenkins of beating up anyone, only that these are very fact sensitive cases and no one actually knows the facts.

It's easy to say "At least he didn't rape anyone, like Jameis Winston" as if that is actually relevant to Eli Jenkins and Auburn's interest in him.

I am still trying to gather why he would leave? likely his current coaches see value in him, and he is was not replaced like Webb was at Tech. So there is no need to transfer just to get on the field. He is the starter for JSU without question and would have no guarantees to start at AU...

Actually if we bring him in he would be expected to start barring playing bad. Also why would a guy from Jax State transfer? Playing in the SEC would raise his pro stock a lot if he played well.

Or maybe he knows that if he comes he'll start

How could he know that since our coaches would never, ever initiate any type of improper contact? :jossun:

wde

Him knowing he would start has nothing at all to do w/ improper contact. He does not have to talk to the staff directly to know that.

I have a hard time seeing what this guy has to gain by transferring to Auburn. He is the unquestioned starter @ JSU and I seriously doubt Gus would guarantee him the job if he comes to Auburn. I'll believe it when I see it but, more importantly, I'll believe he'll be the starter @ Auburn when I see it and I will shocked if he ever steps on the field again at JHS.

Really? Gus has done that at least 2 times before.

It feels like we are beating a dead horse because we won't find out anything about Jenkins until after the 29th, and there are three other active QB related threads that have drifted to the same redundant talking points of the others.

The 29 was April 29th. We won't know anything likely til after his Court Date June 7th.

Well, I'm now remembering that it actually comes from a dumb joke that's probably a little bit racist. Fast forward to the punchline: Asian guy says "exactly".

Yeah. Probably should retire that one.

Carson Wentz just went number 2 in the draft from NDSU...if you are good enough in your league the NFL will find you he may not be number 2 but he would get a shot. There is the possibility that tougher competition combined with a short period of time with a new team, system, etc could hinder him as well. I think it's a very tough decision, on one hand you have familiarity opportunity for another OVCconference/FCS national championship, teammates who you have bonded and won with, you are the unquestioned starter vs the opportunity to play on a larger stage, compete against better athletes, SEC, etc. Like I said it's a very tough decision imo. I personally don't think any team can have too many good football players, so if he comes I would welcome him.

There's a basketball player in the NBA from Weber st....that doesn't change the fact you have a better chance at going pro if you're at duke. In every situation on earth you can always name an anomaly. Bill gates dropped out of college and became a billionaire....would you want that for your child? Guess why cam came to Auburn instead of playing for Texas st, Alabama st, or Georgia st? And that choice was successful for him as well...he went number 1
